Hello all!
I hope LotR isn't dying; I wanna get into it! I've heard many good thing about the relative inability to win by powergaming, and the fast-paced nature of the game. I got a copy of Mines of Moria, and had a practice game with Harad vs Elves. It seems a lot of fun, I like the streamlines rules, the fact that neither player has to wait for long before they can do something, and the fact tactics seem more relevant during fights; it's less of a unit scrum than other games.

Anyway, to the point. I was considering what army to collect, and I don't want to be good. At least, not goody two-shoes. I thought of collecting an evil army, but I kinda most like the idea more of a rogish hero type feel for the army. I was particularly taken by The Ranger models and the Undead. They look like they'd be great fun to collect, easy to paint and model, and they fit the 'vibe' I'm going for. And the odd hero who can really mix it up with the enemy would be fun too :)

So I'd like to start a rangers-and-Ghosts (mostly) army. Is that viable? Would it work out on the battlefield? Again, I love the mdoels and concept more than anything, I just wanted to know what any experts thought.

The game is great as is WotR but you're not likely to get any kind of feedback or responses on BoLS relating to either game which is a shame to be honest...

You're best off looking at the one ring or the last alliance sites for LotR or WotR game info.
