So pg 84 of the CSM Codex says that a chainfist uses strength+2D6 for armor penetration. Is this assuming that the chainfist doubles the users strength (up to the max of 10) and THEN allows 2D6 on top of that for armor pen?
So a termie with a chainfist assaults your land raider... he has a chainfist. Are we talking 8+3(D6).

No mate the correct pen would be 2d6+8

Weapons with special penetration bonuses will be fairly explicit. It's usually written one of two ways:
1. "x weapon rolls 2d6 for armor penetration" (this overrides and nullifies the normal 1d6, so only 2d6 are rolled total)
2. "x weapon rolls an extra dice for penetration" (in this case, you roll 1d6+1d6, for a total of 2d6)

So basically, in either case it's only 2d6.

Yeah it is S8 + 2D6 per attack: i.e. a termie on assault 3 attacks = 3x S8 + 2D6 so for every hit you mak you then roll the 2D6

Does this help?

That was a typo. My bad, I meant what you said.
