The GW Thousand Sons Upgrade Kit is supposed to contain 31 pieces but the picture in the above link show 28 pieces plus the sorcerer. Does the kit have enough parts to convert all ten CSMs that come in a CSM kit? Or does it only have enough to convert 8 CSMs and the pieces to bring up the count to 31 are those of the included sorcerer?

Is it better to go to eBay and get one of the third party conversion kits?

Sorceror is a three piece model.

Thanks, but my main concern is how many CSMs the kit can convert , 8 or 10 models?

It allows 8 "Standard" Thousand sons marines, As Tzneetch's sacred number is 9.
Which includes the Sorcerer

You are probably better off with these:

http://wargameexclusive.com/shop/chaos/thousand-sons-marines-conversion-set/

Converts up to 10 models, the aesthetic is similar and it contains 60 parts (20x shoulders, 10x bodies, 10x loincloth, 10x heads, 10x energy bagpacks)

Looks like this halfway painted:

yeah, you can pretty much get all of the upgrade kids from different places that are of better quality than GWs.

Puppetswar has pretty much all you'll ever need for conversion bits.

As ever though, think about where you play.

Nowt wrong with the above link, but some places may not allow you to field them if they're not 100% GW. Such as GW stores and (possibly, don't quote me) GW events.

If neither of those apply, knock yourself out :)

Good thing most sane people don't play at GW stores, or that GW is getting out of the event scene.

Even so, better to be safe than sorry :)
