Ninja Division and MAGE Company bring Aether Captains a game by Todd Sanders on Kickstarter on February 1! An asymmetric steampunk board game of villainous sky pirates and heroic naval zeppelins in epic conflict above the skies of Arkady!

One player commands the mighty naval zeppelins of the Grand Compact: Dauntless and Dominion. As Commander, you have been tasked by the Emperor to defend the Grand Compact and Arkady from the merciless sky pirates. With your staunch crew of steam welders, engineers, navigators and gunners, you fly with honor to confront the pirates threatening Arkady.

The remaining players command waves of attacking sky pirates, each with their own unique objectives which may pit them against any player when it results in the greatest profit for themselves. Infamous and feared, you have risen through the cutthroat cadres to become a War Captain. You swear to never rest until you control the skies and the Grand Compact falls!

Now more than ever the world of Arkady is in great danger and the chances for survival are few. Which side are you on?

The main continent of Arkady is divided into three regions. The South, home to the Grand Com-pact and its allies, the North where the nomadic tribes of weapon-makers live, and the West, where the Air Pirates have their bases and supply depots; waging attacks against the Grand Compact. The capitol of the Grand Compact is Val Justinia, which sits on a large harbor complex by the sea. From here wind turbine and springturn powered boats, steam driven trains and the Aethernavy and freeships of mercenaries and traders alike depart to the rest of the world. Val Justinia is a cosmo-politan city where people of all social standing live and mix.

At the center the Emperor’s Residence looks out over the lands of Arkady. The other nine city-states of the Grand Compact each has its own capitol city: Thoia, with its vast cliffside buildings, is the vacation jewel of the coast. Costa, southernmost trading port city famed for its courtyard gardens and public spaces. Etherton, industrial stronghold in the mountains. Easley by the River, where students from all over Arkady come to study at the University, oldest center of learning in the world. Kestral, exotic crossroad trading city and gateway to the North’s nomads. Perium is the Grand Compact's strongest bastion against the Air Pirates; bordering them, Perium remains ever on guard against major incursions. It is also a large center of mining for the Grand Compact. Mavery, with its vast wheatfields and rich soil, provides to food to feed the populace of the Grand Compact. Antara, along with Kestral is a crossroads of trade.

The Grand Compact is a vast, thriving empire, which requires vast raw resources to create and maintain its technology, commerce centers and populace. Additionally various waystations and trading posts are scattered throughout the empire aiding travelers, merchants and the military.

The nomadic tribes of the North remain mostly ground dwellers, preferring horse and camels con-voys to aetherships. They move throughout the year living in small encampments rather than large cities. They have the reputation for being the finest weapon-makers in Arkady, manipulating aetheric energy, brass, copper and wood to create rifles, pistols and swords of exceptional quality. They are prone to quick violence and loyal friendships.
