I'm new deciding on iron hands as my starter army. I was curious if using this codex with the current sm one is still relevant? And what sorta advice could you give me with combining the two if applicable??

Clan Raukaan is definitely still relevant. It's one of the better space marine armies out there especially for newbies. The supplement essentially replaces the iron hands chapter tactics in the main book. That and you get slightly different relics, warlord traits, and some formations that aren't that great. Otherwise you mostly use the main book.

The reason I think it's great for newbies is that you basically get an army wide feel no pain save so you use it almost every single time someone shoots at you. It's really easy to use unlike the ultramarines chapter tactics that need a lot more fore thought.
