Well, for my first post on this here forum I figured I'd post some pics of my new death guard army. Ive been working on orks for years and I just wanted something that was about as far away from them as I could get.
First off is the first squad of plague marines and their transport...

For the rhino, I wanted an old school look. So I made a new front plate with the old style doors, and added the angled ramp/front end bit from an old rhino kit to the rear. Then I took a dremel and a cone shaped grinding bit and worked the parts from the inside out, building up heat until the plastic bubbled to the surface creating the big pustules all over the hull. In other spots I kept grinding to make some holes in the hull, thining out the material so it looked rusted. for the areas that would be ove the tracks, I added some spare rhino track bitz I had to add some detail. Afterr that, the rest is pretty self explanatory.

For the squad itself, Ive left the models stock but added gale force 9 magnetic bases and detailed them up with strips of balsa wood a few bitz. Im going for a tranchworks theme for the bases of the whole army.

Last up is the first of my obliterators. Ive always thought the guns arms on these things were way too small, so ive thrown on something a little more intimidating. this guys in the very early stages, a whole lot more greenstuff is on the way.

Really nice work on the rhino! Can't wait to see it painted up.

Very nice. I'm a big fan of the old-school wooden doors.

got some more work done on the obliterators today...

got more greenstuff work done on the first one, still needs more after this layer cures

And I got started on the second one. A few weapon bitz, and next up is the milliput for the base for the mutated arms. milliput is good to use for this as it dries harder than greenstuff and prvides a nice surface for the greenstuff to stick to.

Got the rhino painted tonight. I was originally thinking of going pre-heresy for the paint, but I decided in the end to stick with the classic nasty green. Im really happy with how it turned out. especially all the rust and filth...

The colours are much brighter in the pics. My camera isnt exactly top of the line so it looks like much more of a contrast than there actually is.

those obliteraters are awesome. I really like the replacement light on the rhino as well.

The Rhino is awesome! Love the wooden hatches and classic rear hatch. Great weathering too.

Got some more work done on the army the last few days...

The second rhino is about half painted. I had this one kicking around for years but I had chopped off the back end in a misguided attempt to make a recovery tank for my old templar army.So I had to rebuild the back end in addition to the other chaosy modifications.

next up is my sorcerer. Ive magnetized his right arm so I can give him some different weapon options...

And a few more marines. I have another full squad, but they are pretty much stock, so not worth posting till they are painted. The two with the banners are my icon bearers, and the other is my sergeant with a power fist. Ive used an arm from the old necromunda pit fighters for a different style weapon.

And last up is my New defiler. Im building it almost entirely from scratch. Its very rough right now, the legs are only tacked in place and will be getting far more work done to bulk them up.
http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/geekninja/death%20guard/DSC00514.jpg
http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/geekninja/death%20guard/DSC00515.jpg
It has 8 magnets hidden around it so I can give it every weapon option and represent weapon destroyed results. For close combat weapons Im planning on making the feet into big nasty talons. I should be getting the rhino finished tonight and then I'll get back to work on the defiler.

More progress on the defiler...

http://i1009.photobucket.com/albums/af218/geekninja/death%20guard/DSC00526.jpg
Got the legs on it. Ive also bulked the out and detailed them quite a bit. I still need to finish plating the right leg, and to add more detail and nurgly bitz. After that, I'll get to work on the upper hull. I think I'm going to find some way to add some bulk to the rear area, as right now it looks a bit front heavy. But it still stands on its own.

C&C appreciated...

edit: I noticed that the main gun looks crooked in the pics, and it is. But that's just because I bumped the magnet that holds is on.

Looks pretty good thus far. I'm interested to see how the rest of the build is going to turn out, and what the final shape/profile will look like.

I like what you've done to customize your DG. I also really like your oblits, I may have to steal some ideas from you on those as I've been tossing it around for some time and not coming up with anything I'm satisfied with.

As promised here's my first batch of plague marines done...

While painting I found out that the metal GW plague marine figs are actually not very good. Tehy really seem like someone took greenstuff and smeared it across the plastics, then recast them. I hope the forgeworld ones Ive got on order are better.

And now the defiler. I just finished the build. Still needs something interesting for the base, but that can wait till tomorrow. Ive also thrown in a shot of how it breaks down to represent destroyed weapons and for using different options.

Top notch work, man.

I love the drawbridge-like wooden doors on that Rhino, and I love the Obliterators.

Also, nice work on the Defiler. It looks well done and adds more personality to your army.
