Chaos Dreadnoughts do the Darndest things!

Had a battle yesterday. Actually won for once!
1750 pts each, two players a side,
Despite a strange alliance (my plagueys were allied with 1750 pts of SOBS!)
it was a very amusing game.
Played vs a Korra'so SM army and Tiggy led ultras.

My list was a reaction to my usual meched up force, I looked at my model shelf and had decided to go with the models that looked coolest rather than the "best" units, y'know have fun n' that.

I took two dreadnoughts, one with plasma cannon and one h2h dread.
I ran the plas dread behind his "dogs":3x chaos Spawn mainly so that I'd shoot them rather than anything important.

Ha, might have guessed that Tiggy+ honour guard chpt banner etc would drop pod in front of my dread and callously shoot dead all the spawn! Whats with these auxilliary grenade launchers? ouch!

Then my Dready got really mad and fire frenzied the nearest unit, which was, due to the lack of spawn, now a rhino full of allied SOBs, weapon destroyed and immobilised..hilarious!

My lovely Dready was disassembled in h2h by Tiggy n' the boys as a direct result!

The other dread frenzied at my Daemon Prince, but didn't wound, he did this twice! Again hilarious.

Those dreads rolled four 1's between them, ridiculous. Actually don't think I've ever seen so many 1's rolled in a game (by all players!)

I loved using these guys, and running spawn with em just looks so cool!

Mind you my outflanking Chosen with 5x plasma guns were my men of the match, took out a dreadnought and assault terminator squad, and half a tac squad (with a DP's help)

No. I have no Chaos Dread love stories, as I prefer my Dreads to do what they're told.

Many folks badmouth the Chaos dreadnaught, but it's one of the few flavorful things left in the Chaos Marine Codex. I've got one in every Chaos army and I love 'em.

When I was still learning to play, my Chaos dreadnaught would go berserk on an almost regular basis. Sometimes he'd kill the enemy. More often than not, he'd kill my own guys. Did it spoil my strategy? Sometimes. Did it spoil the game? Never.

The game is about randomness. Heroes miss shots. Combat monsters swing at empty air. Dreadnaughts go berserk. It happens. I'm surprised by people who hate Chaos dreadnaughts but love deep striking. Because Deep Striking never goes wrong and costs you an expensive unit... ;)

Things don't have to be bad to be flavorful. As it stands now the death company dread is probably closer to what a chaos dread should be.

Sometimes they even do what they're supposed to do!

i dont know if this counts but in dowII i my hero gets killed by chaos dreads more often than the enemy (or 20 mins of a apothecary getting stabbed,getting back up, repeat.)

the chaos dread does seem very chaosy now if you could deepstrike/droppod a H2H dread :)
