Looks nice...But almost too much gold. Maybe a different color on the pistol or even on the mask? Would like to see more of the squad though.

What Duke said. You could always try highlighting it with a 2:1 mix of gold and mithril silver to balance out the gold.

Yeah, I was thinking along those lines. Gun barrel and possibly casing are going to get a repaint. Honestly I think the glare washes out some of the contrast, the model looks a fair bit darker in the flesh. Plastic. Whatevs.
I'll upload the others as I do them, but he took around six hours D:

Don't think it's too much gold given what he is (maybe the gun like you plan), but the silver based highlights might bring it together more. I'd even suggest edge highlight is pure silver, to make the armour's shape stand out a bit more (can work well, especially if he's actually darker than this).

Yeah, trouble is the gold is already effectively a highlight over a 1:1 gold/brown mix. Not sure where I'd fit another highlight in. It's hard to see on the webcam picture, I'll borrow the mrs' camera when I shoot the rest of the squad. :)

I do some extreme highlighting on gold with a. 2:1 mix if mightily sliver and shunning gold. But i don't think there is something "wrong" with the gold ... Just too much of it.
This is the 2nd model in the squad, I've called him Brother Virgil. I'm gonna use the green weapon effect on the rest of the models, need to go back and add it to the first guy. Still WIP, couple of details left to do but i'm gonna finish the rest of the squad first & go back to touch up at the end. Comments & criticism welcome as always :D

I like this one much better than the first. I'm looking on my phone so can't see many details, I'll let you know if I have any more c and c. Take a look at my page and let me know what you think too.

I agree. The second model looks awesome, and a great improvement.

I agree, this guy looks much better. Having the gun and sword and as contrast colours helps bring it together a lot. The only thing I think might help is to increase the depth of shading on some of the parts (the bit I really noticed was the plating on his feet).
The only thing I was going to suggest is that you do something really pretty for the bases. Not sure if you had planned that, but such ornate models can't fight on "The Onyx fields of Pelantor"

Hahah, that's classic. Yeah I'm thinking of ordering some nice scenic bases but haven't found anywhere good in the UK for that kind of thing yet

The second definitely shows improvement. May just be the lighting on the first but he looks very flat compared to the second. Squad will look very nice if painted like him,
