The raw might of the Legiones Astartes at the peak of their powers was terrifying to behold. Thousands of gene-enhanced warriors supported by vehicles and war machines of devastating power could be fielded against enemies of the Imperium wherever they arose. Many of the Legions organised their strength as a structure of chapters, battalions and companies, despatching forces of the appropriate strength and assets to wherever they were needed.

This exceptional bundle represents an entire Legiones Astartes company with their supporting units and war machines. The models included allow you to dive straight into the cataclysmic warfare of the Horus Heresy.

Included are one hundred and fourteen plastic models and seven complete resin kits;

• Ninety Legion Tactical Space Marines in MK4 armour, with a huge selection of weapons and custom features, including nine each of heavy bolters, missile launchers, flamers, melta-guns and plasma guns, which could be used to build these Space Marines as specialist Legion Tactical Support or Legion Heavy Support Squads.
• Fifteen Cataphractii Terminators with a variety of close combat and ranged weapon options.
• A full talon of three Contemptor Dreadnoughts, each armed with a Close Combat Fist with inbuilt combi-bolter and a choice of multi-melta or Kheres assault cannon.
• Three Praetors in Cataphractii Terminator Armour.
• Three Legion Chaplains.
• A Techmarine in Mk IV Armour.
• A Cerberus Heavy Tank Destroyer.
• A Typhon Heavy Siege Tank.
• A Legion Sicaran Battle Tank.

Hold the phone!

Not immediately apparent as they're not on the 'New Stuff' tab....but every Legion so far covered (soz to Thousand Sons and Space Woofs) has it's own Task Force bundle.

Not a bad start at all to a Legion force.

yeah I noticed that this morning, pretty cool idea. now you can see why they made sure to have so many upgrade sets out for legions that have had nothing else yet

Indeedy.

It's almost as if they've been planning this for a while.

Such a great way to get started. One of those, a tank or two and you've got a field ready army straight off the bat.

it is fantastic to see how the upgrade sets look with the plastic models too, you get a pic of a tactical squad for each of the 16 legions so far. interests me mainly because the upgrade sets are often for MkII or MkIII armour, but they still give MkIV a unique appearance to make them stand out from the others and don't look terrible doing so.

Iron Warriors look particularly cool.....

Hmmm....bonus and lots of overtime next month.....lawks. I think I might take the plunge!

little disappointed to see the upgrade sets themselves have gone up so much though, they were around £10 less when I bought a load for my Night Lords

True. Think the last time I looked they were £12?

But, I guess FW need to make up the slack elsewhere, given how popular Betrayal at Calth seems to be. That's a lot of money not going direct through their coffers any more.

I really hope people give the board game included a chance, been playing and demoing it since 10am and it's really good fun

I'm still at work doing my usual overtime. Don't get out until 4:30, so may have to be tomorrow before I can get a chance to roll some bones.

Unless I can floor it back home - then I should have just enough time to dive into the shop and pick up the Tau and Seraphon books.

they are £12 for individual elements, like torsos, or heads, or shoulderpads. I paid something like £34 per set for ten torsos, heads, and pads, now they are £44. basically means there is no longer a saving on them.

Ouch.

But I guess one does have to weight it against the savings made if buying alongside Calth. Fantastic deal for those of us embarking upon our own personal Heresy, but bit of a bummer for those who have been part buying over the past few months (I would say years, but I doubt most if any hobbyists would take that long!)

I don't mind too much, I will probably buy a set of five salamander torsos for sprucing up sergeants, and a load of pads, don't need the whole upgrade set

But they are splitting the UM ones which is great as I don't need many torsos when they're mostly for bolter marines, seems a waste for them

Between this and some of the "you're not limited by the game!" Marketing copy on the site, one wonders why GW bothered with the board game facade in the first place. :p

Regardless, tho, this stuff is great, and GW deserves all of the unreserved success this line looks to be having.

Make it a board game, and it's a Chrimbo pressie for unsuspecting parents to give an unsuspecting sprog, then?

MOAR MUNNEH!

well too bad the two Legions that I'd actually consider are just the ones that are still missing...

Honestly, I'd love to do either of those legions but, I'd rather they take their time and make sure they're happy with the direction (which is by all accounts what has caused the delay) than rush out something they're not sure is the right direction, they're easily the most distictive looking legions and its fortunate their big even in the Heresy was together really!

On balance? I think I'm just going to plump for two copies of the core game on payday. These sets are nice, but I'd rather just have lots of Marines to get started, and buy the add ons as I go.

Kirsten

yup that is what I have done. I could easily buy a third set at some point too, such a great core of troops. I have written seven different legion army lists, and could use pretty much one set for each legion. Wont actually collect seven legions, that would be crazy... >.> but it shows how useful they are. get all the key plastic stuff, then resin as and when.

Is it me or are some of the infantry sets on the FW site MIA?

I am pretty sure there was a standard mkII assault squad. Now there is just the Legion mkII. Did the standard mkII even exist?

Apart from the Legion mkIV being sold out, has anyone noticed other items missing, or is it just my memory?

Yuparoo. I reckon FW will see sets of the Legion specific kits go up now. Entry bar has been dramatically lowered!

Me, I think three sets in total. Gives me 3 squads of 20 with Bolters for Fury of the Legion lols, plus 30 other marines - probably to be armed with Volkite, because irradiating your foe to death remains funny. And probably always will.

As well as lots of Terminators, a Contemptor Talon, and a handful of characters to swapsie and sell off etc.

Kirsten

I am probably keeping the terminators separate, I generally only take one squad of terminators so for most legions that will be their unique version. so with a few spare squads I can do a Pride of the Legion force, or something like Iron Warriors who can take loads of terminators

With my plan to turn the boxes I've ordered into an Ultramarines and Word Bearers force, both of which can ally with my 2000 point Mechanicum Army (finally all finished), I am wonder to expand, I think I'll need at least another 10 Astartes to make into Word Bearer Legion Support Squads to but the Heavy/Special Weapons in when they're not used for the board game, I like the idea that, Post-Calth, the Ultramarines would start using the Legion Veteran Tactical Squads more so I'm happy to do those in Squads of 10 for the game and Horus Heresy. Where Word Bearers are sticking more to the established Legion doctrines but with gribbly bits and cool squads (hello there Ashen Circle and Gal Vorbak!) wonder how long we'll have to wait to see squad boxes (Saw one ebay reseller asking for £50 for 10 Tactical marines, which is just very bizarre)

Ah Ebay. Natural home of the greedy and parasitical.

I hope they got nowt for them. That would be most pleasing.
