Osseo

I'm Osseo. I consider myself a new Warhammer 40k player. I only say that because about 10 years ago my roommate had me play a couple games with his Necrons versus his Chaos Space Marines. I basically was his dice roller bot, but I thought it was neat. I think that was 4th edition? I don't really member anything about it at this point. I never got into it myself, I only borrowed his Necrons on occasion.
I've been a very long time computer gamer, all the way back into the original Ultima Online. I still mostly am a computer gamer, finding a home in Planetside 2, various isometric RPGs, and lately Civilization: Beyond Earth's new expansion.
But, I did venture into the world of models and painting and gamestores back when Warmachines came out. I've always loved the idea of battling robots. I got into it pretty heavy for about two years, even doing traveling tournaments, but the local game store actually closed down (due to too many people buying of the internet) and the scene pretty much fell apart. I haven't touched it since.
I actually have been missing the gamestore community, staying up late on Friday night eating pizza and rolling dice, talking tactics and painting models. It was good times. With some of the new Warhammer 40k games that have been coming out on Steam, the craving to get back into the tabletop gaming world has been pretty intense.
And then I saw the new Tau releases this morning. I can honestly say $500 evaporated from my bank account instantly today. My girlfriend started to complain, only briefly, before I pointed to her new Galaxy S6 Edge and raised an eyebrow, and then she changed her tune and asked, "So, what color are you going to paint them?". I call that a win!
I'm not exactly sure what part of the battle robots made me want to start playing Tau (probably the battling robots part) but needless to say I now am the proud owner of some battling robot suits (see the pattern?).
Maybe it was serendipitous that I decided to get into Tau today, because I just threw down on the new Ghostkeel Edition Codex, which apparently is a limited run. I'll be able to take my place amongst a fresh new tide of Tau hitting the battlefield, with a shiny new book to boot.
I don't actually know much about how to play currently. I picked up the Infiltration Cadre box set and pre-ordered one of the new Crisis Commanders and a box of Firewarriors. Then I stopped by the local game store and got a 7th Edition Rulebook, a Devilfish Transport, and some basic paints and tools.
I'll probably spend the rest of the day reading the rulebook!
Anyway, I'm excited to be here with you all and I look forward to learning how to crush some face on the tabletop!
