40K sUPER CHEAP ON E-BAY

Is there something going on with gw i dont know about. E-bay seems flooded with supercheap space marine squads and other gear from 40k. What gives. Is 40k going the same way as fantasy

emphasis on cheap price and more importantly... cheap quality. but that notion can kick up another off topic line of comments about GW's LegalHammer division going out there to protect IP and brand name (hence implied level of quality you come to expect with their products, but don't get when you buy knock-offs)...

also... know that there are well-documented links between pirated goods and all sorts of undesirable issues. from terrorism to human trafficking to heroin, often the groups that get involved making some quick money from pirating easily-duped merchandise use it as a front-end fund to finance all sorts of larger and horrible enterprises.

i don't know if it's been investigated for model dupes, or the like, but i know there have been some in-depth investigations of knockoff purses and other luxury goods that have delineated the connections. if they are the same manufacturers (and yes, a large number are in china, or proxy through china from north korea), then there's the strong posssibility you are funding things you are probably not morally comfortable with having a hand in.
