Lore is neat so far, but I've only managed to skim it. Sigmar get's back Ghal Maraz at the end, realizes that weapons are made to take into battle and then goes to open the Chamber Extremis to awaken the 'Holy Beast' within (which probably isn't Drakothion, who got hurt hurt badly earlier in the book fighting the corrupted wyrm Argentine). So, chances are Stormcast get either Sigmar mounted on whatever the 'holy beast' is or a independent monster.

so we have had the sigmarites, a totally new faction. chaos looks much the same, tree spirits and skaven repackaged. looks like a lot of things are staying the same. what I really want to see are the humans and elves. the stuff we have had so far makes sense to stay the same, elves will change I think because they will probably merge, will empire and bretonnians change/merge?
Mr Mystery
08-05-2015, 02:39 AM
Well, given we still have Three Flavours of Elven God, I'm not even that convinced we'll see a unified Elven look - though I guess a 'fourth faction' could be introduced of 'Meh' Elves, who don't favour one god or another?

Yarp. Not really much you can do with those two.

My honest guess? Humies is gonna wait until the Realmgate Wars, so we can see 're-established' human kingdoms.

Although I won't be buying the LTD Ed version, I go for th iBook interactive these days, I'm loving the direction this is all going with the background being built up with each new release. I like it really seems like a good way to introduce everything and give the impression of an evolving situation.
I'm also working forward to the Bloodreavers I thought the AoS box set ones were truly excellent so I'm looking forward to see if we're going to get multiparts at the same level.

Skrolk is still on the UK store, but no other Plague Priests, could be changing to a generic, makes sense, he wouldn't be alive in the Age of Sigmar.

Look, I get that any opinion other than AoS being awesome is strictly forbidden, but can we please stop trotting out the utter nonsense that Warhammer players never spent any money. GW never gave us anything new to spend money on, which is why sales were low. New releases always sold well and the End Times books selling out within a matter of minutes, wildly outstripping GW's expectations, proved that we did spend money when given new stuff.
Path Walker
08-05-2015, 09:17 AM
In the last 5 years, it never sold well enough to justify continuing the range, warhammer has fewer players and so there weren't enough people spending money.
The players it did have had their armies, largely unchanged for a few editions, it wasn't getting in enough new blood to replace those who drifted off.
Its not that WFB players spend less than 40K players, it's that there weren't many new WFB players who are the customers who spend the most money.
Wildeybeast
08-05-2015, 09:26 AM
There were plenty of people to spend money on it (especially as most Warhammer gamers were more mature, which means they have more cash to splurge), but as you say we all had several armies and there was nothing new to spend money on. Even the updates of existing armies were significantly smaller and less frequent that 40K. GW created a self fulfilling prophecy; Warhammer players don't spend any money, so why create anything for them to spend money on?
There were no new players because the game had a fairly high entry point in terms of models and therefore cost in cashmonies. None of that is the fault of the players, it all lies at GW's door. I get that I'm not going to change anybodies mind about the necessity of the death of Warhammer, but can we at least stop blaming it on those of us loyally supported it?

... Because they priced themselves out of the market. People have been telling them it was coming for years. It finally happened. I would continue buying a box of 10 infantry for £12, ... £15, ... maybe £16, ... maybe £18 if I REALLY wanted them. £20, nah, ... £25, no way bro, £30, now you're are just making me weep, ... £35, Holy Cow Batman, ...
GW Pricing Policy is what killed Warhammer.
Now we have Sigmarines at £30 for 5. I am would be truly stunned if there are enough people willing to pay this much for 5 plastic infantry figures (even if they are on big bases - gasp !!!) for this approach to be any more successful than DeadHammer.

Price isn't the factor, its a factor for some people, but for the customers GW want, the price of a box of models isn't too much right now.
40K had a very similar pricing structure and sells very well. People are willing to spend the money.

Good work, those don't looking they're going to disappoint. They're going to fit nicely with my Marauder army. The aesthetic fits very well with the Marauder Horsemen which is nice (and less He-Man than the old

Incidentally an army which I bought for the End Times but alas I couldn't spend enough to save WFB 😞. Good job I like AoS then.
Wildybeast I think it's ok not to like AoS it's just that it's become tedious hearing it from some people in every thread that is vaguely contected to it ( not that I'd have suggested you'd been doing that) also it it is interesting that quite a few people seem to have had their lives ruined by its release despite the fact they seemed to show no interest in WFB beforehand ( again not really yourself though). It's become a bit like the gaming hipster thing with the squats if everyone who claimed to have had a squat army actually had one there would of have been nothing but squats (there wasn't I was there). Similarly if all these people had been buying these vast WFB armies they claim this wouldn't have happened. Yes Big-Mini (GW) does need to take some of the blame but all of the righteous indignation does seem to sound a little hollow in some cases.

I'm not going to ***** about the death of Warhammer as 1) no one cares and 2) I've had my grieving period and moved onto KoW which seems to be fulfilling a lot of my war gaming needs. AoS is making some people happy and good for them, it's a shame that it couldn't exist alongside Warhammer, but there we go. I just get narked at the apparently celebratory mood some people seem to have over the end of Warhammer and the fact that people are retrospectively blaming it on the people who were actually playing it and buying the models. Because clearly the people supporting it were the reason the game failed.

i can relate with alot of what you're saying. Just recently got back into fantasy just before the end times started, spent around 1000$ since and now it's dead. Still not sure how i feel about everything but being 'called' an idiot in podcasts and videos i watch/listen to because i dare being upset adds to the negativity alot.
i've tried to keep an open mind. I was even possibly thinking of getting some of the new 'aelfs' when they're released but i think i'll just take a step back and focus on getting back into 40k and taking a step into 30k. Atleast i Think i can feel safe starting 40k seeing as it's the GW money maker.
Hopefully they won't kill that... right?

I know - some weird psychology going on there, ... just for conversations sake, it seems to be a BOLS phenomenon that I can see. Not happening this way on Warseer.

No one said that Fantasy players killed Fantasy, they said the fact there weren't enough people playing fantasy did, whether you blame GW for encouraging big games or the players for refusing not to be dickheads and using 60-100 strong infantry units all the time which is what created the barrier for new people.
I barely played either of my fantasy armies because I didn't want to have to paint 150 goblins just for one unit and playing with small units against big ones was an exercise in futility. That was the players, not the company, GW could have stopped it by adding in unit caps or something but they didn't, but players didn't either.
No one is happy Fantasy is dead, they're happy they have a new, accessible, fun game they can play with their models. I've been able to play more Warhammer because of Age of Sigmar than I have in the last 5 years. That's what people are happy about.
Why people have the need to post in a thread about products for a game they don't play just to complain about it boggles the mind.
Go play Kings of War and try and convince yourself you're having a good time.

Because you and others were poking fun at those people who were unhappy about the death of Warhammer. I would have thought that was obvious when I quoted your comment. I'm not sure what that had to with new AoS products, but since you started it, I felt it only fair I was allowed a rebuttal. If you don't want people complaining, then how about you don't give them cause to do so in the first place.

More to the topic... I think it's valid for people to remark about products for any game, whether they play the game or not. Perhaps it speaks to why they don't play the game, their distaste for certain products. Either way, it's conversation, shouldn't just be limited to the cheerleaders alone, and if people would stop trying to say others are "stupid" or "wrong" because they have a different opinion, maybe the people who don't play AoS might help those who do play it understand why someone wouldn't, which would then help those who play figure out how to work out better arguments to attract new players. (And I hate that run-on sentence, but I think it got the point across.)
Can't really do much about trolls anywhere, because they'll do their best to rile people up and feed the negativity for their own enjoyment, though there's an Ignore feature that should help.

Yep. Anyone can express an opinion on products, whether they play the game or not. I don't play cricket, but I'm still entitled to express an opinion on the hammering we are giving the Aussies. I'm not a politician, but I can still say what I think about how my country is being run. For me, I like looking at the models GW produces, even when I don't like the aesthetic of the new ones. I want to see how AoS develops as I might want to play it in the future if things change (unlikely without points, but who knows what will happen). There are also plenty of GW models I can use for KoW, so I'm going to keep dipping in and out of these threads, even if I'm not playing AoS.

Not normally one for Collector's Editions either - though I do have the very nice 'printed on parchment' 8th Ed rulebook, which I think was probably the last (possibly only) Collector's Edition I ever bought from GW.

The first book was great, I'm expecting more of the same, some cool art, interesting fluff and nice battleplans to add to the game, whats not to like?

I don't like Cauliflower. Horrible, bland, tasteless stuff.

Oh look at this ****ing typical shill of the Cauliflower industry, can't let anyone express their dislike without having to chime in being relentlessly positive about Cauliflower.
Its pathetic and childish, you should just grow up and stop trying to force us to enjoy something when its obvious the cauliflower industry don't give a **** about us, the loyal customers who have been buying cauliflower for 30 years.

Broccoli? Broccoli I like. Decent source of iron as well, and cooked/steamed Al denté. Lovely stuff.
But you can keep your Cauliflower!

Apart from the Beards.
Also, hair gets ever so matted when covered in gore - it's probably easier just to keep your bonce shaved.

Still not sure they'll put him in the game. That'd feel a bit... munchkin-y? The guy's supposed to be a god, there's no way to have him in the game without being OP. He's fought the nastiest stuff in the galaxy... solar system... realms... whatever. You put 400 Chaos Warriors across from him and he'll wonder why anyone roused him from playing solar cricket with his newly found Ghal Maraz and greater daemon skulls.
The Chaos Castle looks like several accidents waiting to happen. Much blood will be shed for Chaos.
Hope there's more in there for Skaven. I'll get a Plague Furnace eventually (when I remember to), but I don't want to get another Verminlord, and mine is a Warpseer. But if there's something like a Plague Legion, that'd be cool. I've got over a hundred Plague Monks and a bunch of Censer Bearers, that should be worth a battalion scroll.

Polo involves severed heads. Everyone knows that.

Actually I only mentioned cricket because I remember seeing someone mention how much they hated it, and it was funny to throw that image out there.
But hey, cricket, polo, croquet, baseball, whatever... It's not like a god can fight daemons normally, he has to make it entertaining!

Eventually we all stop chuckling at the 2nd grade humor, at least for a spell, and you have to find new sources of entertainment.
I imagine chugging kegs of ale while fighting can add some amusement too.

I've got nearly 20 seasons of South Park available online... but I guess that also extends beyond fart humor into other stuff. Still, the fact B&B were off the air for a while shows that people sometimes need a break from that stuff.
Unless you're Nurgle, of course.
Everyone's different, though. I just imagine Sigmar to have a varied array of humor topics he enjoys. Like making bad jokes about where all the elves have gone or how Gork and Mork have split personality disorder, or setting orphanages on fire and blaming the fyreslayers ("Oh, guess one of them blokes must have slipped in and got too close to the curtains... My, my, what a shame that was."). Oh, and can't forget jokes about Undead boning all day and the Skaven god being horny all the time.
