Hello all!

The main thing that keeps me from posting project pics is that I tend to jump around... a lot. I have at least 10+ projects going all the time spanning multiple games, scales and genres. Over time some grow in importance receiving attention and others fade into obscurity, hopefully to be revitalized at a later date! Poor Dark Eldar had a 10 year lag between start and finish. The main thing I've learned to help deal with having the attention span of a toddler is to always keep a paint sheet with every project that details the brand, colour and 'edition' of the paints used. Very, very important... especially if you mix any colours! Trying to colour match mixed or old armies can take a lot of effort without this little helper.

Anyhow. I thought one thing I could do is post a master thread to cover at least the 40k projects all in one place. That way I can just bounce in whatever projects are peaking my interest over time.

I also chose the title with purpose as well as I will be posting up finished pieces of rare, weird and unreleased 40k models as they make their way from my model closets into production and maybe even to the tabletop.

To kick things off I'll start with the 40k faction that is near and dear to my heart. The glorious, perfidious Eldar! This army matches my preferred playstyle perfectly as I far enjoy a game of movement over one of stand and shoot. With that in mind let's get this photo flood rolling.

My personal favorite of all the Eldar... The Harlequins

http://i.imgur.com/LOBPB3N.jpg?2

And some Venoms painted up to be Harlequin rides

http://i.imgur.com/kBfafAg.jpg?2

Like most of my projects I had already started these Venoms long before the Harlequin book/models were even rumored... and not having a bandwagon personality I always finish what I've started... eventually. :p

Much more to follow.

Next up are the humble guardians... backbone of many a craftworld force! The kit is getting old and a lot of folks think it seriously needs an update, but with a little care and attention you can get a lot of movement out of these models!

I also like to integrate old metal models into the line up like this fella

and good old Daemon mask!

And while on the subject of Guardians, we can't forget that they

:p I just added a spectral hand holding one of the handlebars as libby's little helper! I may ditch the spectral guys behind for this model as it makes it a bit hard to play with... maybe I can tag them on a Librarian Dread!

Thanks mates! Here's a weird little turn counter I received at a local event. It's resin and has some detailing issues but it was free and painted up nice enough. :)

I magnetized the dial to make sure it fits snug and doesn't bounce around and painted it up to match the Howling Griffons!

I like the idea of the levitating bike Libby but was never in love with the first effort. After several times tearing the model down and reworking it to be more dynamic and 'game friendly' I settled on a Dr Strange Spellcaster vibe.

I also wanted to just kitbash this fella vs sculpting things so I tried to keep the greenstuff work to a minimum. The parts list comes from the following:

SM Bike - Bike and left arm (minus the hand)
SM Devastator Squad - Hands and Cherub
SM Assault Squad - Legs
SM Tactical Squad - Torso, Helmet and Backpack, Grenades, Bolt pistol in Holster
SM Commander - Right Arm (Any bent arm would do though)
SM 90s Plastic Weapon Sprue - Force Axe
Grey Knights - Book with Sword for backpack
White Scars Bitz - Metal Shoulder Armour
AoS Spectral Host - Ghostly Steering steering the bike
AoS Zombies - 3 x Hands lifting the bike
AoS Ironbreakers - Book for the bike 'standard'
AoS Chaos Marauders - Bare Head and Skull on chain

And the Company Standard (Going to be the relic banner) I decided to make a holder for the banner that attached to the bike frame. On my howling Griffon bikers I had the banner in hand and it never set well for me but this style I really like. Plus the banner is not glued in so I can make others to swap out!

I'll be painting the backpacks and bolters separate! These were a lot of fun to play with. I started converting a few of the bikes by cutting the front away before gluing the halves together. This lets you rotate the front wheel & handlebars for variety.

Cheers!

Hello all! I'm mostly recovered from a bad auto accident... had our car totaled by an 18 wheeler on the interstate system here in the states back in May. Actually lucky to be alive. Anyhow on to the actual fun things in life... Received a challenge for an upcoming October tournament from a mate who has a Marvel heroes themes Space marine force. Well not wanting to be left hanging I blew the dust off the Dark Eldar (The ultimate baddies) and started converting up some characterful figures for them.

No Marvel villain army would be complete without Archon Loki. He pulls bits from the high, Dark and Wood Elf lines as well as the Dark Eldar!

http://i.imgur.com/Xvaa7fI.jpg?3

http://i.imgur.com/pqLGolF.jpg?4

For supporting characters I have the Enchantress and the Abomination (shown together for scale)

http://i.imgur.com/44zFsPF.jpg?3

and the Vulture who will break canon and lead the Vulturions into battle.

http://i.imgur.com/3028Ees.jpg?3

Trying to craft a Hela figure... any other baddies that might fit into a Dark Eldar mash up? Cheers!

Doc Ock version 1.0 arrives! One of the more challenging models to put together so far! I think I'll use him as a Haemonculus... he gives off that vibe! :D

Bitz list for Ock includes:
-Mordian LT in long coat
-Catachan head with sunglasses (easy to blend the hair into the bandana to get that classic bowl cut look)
-FW Cadian arms
-Malanthrope tentacles (easy to find these extra bitz)
-Eldar Wraitguard gun tips to create tips.
-Dark Eldar heavy weapon backpack for detailing

Hela takes the stage this week. Not sure what she'll represent yet but a Haemonculus comes to mind if she leads Grotesques or Wracks from her army of the dead. Another real pain model to work out. Her head is actually 2 different wood elf helmets and the half of her face is from a witch elf. Not fun dealing with so many tiny parts! Still have to smooth her neck out - The head is tacked in place.

After deciding to give her a pet I thought I might make an AoS Flesheater court for her to lead. Could also double as 40k Grotesques/wracks since they share the same basing now.

Did a couple groups of Crypt Horrors as test models and decorated the bases with their smaller kin. Looking for a horde look without making it too weird.

Hello all! After playing for over 2 decades I've developed an interest in assembling unusual looking armies. Coming off the Marvel Villains themed army I'm starting to tinker with Harlequins as one of the 2016-2017 projects. First thing I found is Harlies are thin and fiddly to cut up and reassemble! Never one to be put off by small matters we'll see where this project goes over the coming months.

The first thing I learned was you might as well cut the feet free then see where the pose takes you. There are multiple attachment points besides the ones premodeled.

Here is a first pass at a few Troupe members.

I really like the back flipping "I just want a hug" pose for some reason

Using the caress can also give you some unusual connection points:

I'm thinking of painting them old school where each model is different... stay tuned for more madness! ;)

Few more converted/kitbashed Harlies...

I love connecting the base to the flowing sashes on these models!

The one on the left required a lot of cutting and positioning plus some sculpted parts. The other one is hanging out on an old 90mm Metal promo Marine head I had laying about. :D

Solitaire and Spiritseer Mk I... mainly just cut these free and reposed them on their bases although the spiritseer nicked a new hand from Eldrad's kit.

The Troupe transport!

Wanted these to look different from Voidweavers so I'm converting Venoms with spare Shuriken Cannons and Harlie heads.

Going to start chopping on the Jetbikes next.

Cheers!

Great mix of new and old.

Thanks mate! I still love several of the original Eldar sculpts even though they are 25+ years old at this point!

Working on bike variants now... One of the back riders turned into my most complex Harlie conversion to date!

First up are a couple tame ones... swaped in some regular legs to give them a kneeling on the back pose and swaped out some arms on the drivers to make them look more involved

Single view of a troupe leader on bike...

Not sure I like the back flip off the bike pose but I think I'll keep it for variety... it's tacked togehter with putty cause I want to paint these little devils in parts!

http://i.imgur.com/vxNegPF.jpg?2

and the most complex squiggle to date doesn't look like much but the double handed over head grip on the glaive was a nightmare... it is 4 different pieces threaded together with a tiny bit of strong wire.

Close up's of the mook holding it

Final posing for the riders will be sorted out after everything is painted up! Hope you like how these are coming along!

Cheers! /J
