Space Rocks are at it again (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Wars-Armada-Asteroids-Expansion/dp/B00XTALYRG/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1434394783&sr=8-8&keywords=Space+rocks)
Spangly terrain for Armada this time.
Do check it out. Their bases are clear acrylic, and if they're anything like their X-Wing effort, the same shape as the cardboard asteroid tokens.

Using the zoom feature, looks like the bases are indeed the same shape as the rocks.
The blown up ships would be handy for destroyed ships causing wreckage issues. The only thing that gives me pause is that the ships look like someone took the starter set, broke up the ships, sculpted on green stuff that's worked around a bit on the broken edges, and made a mold of that. It'd be effective, but might cause some legal issues if FFG decided to complain. It's quite possible FFG doesn't care, especially given the amount of time the stuff's been for sale, and it's not like you can play the game with wreckage, so people still have to buy from FFG.
(Then again, FFG also hasn't complained about the guy doing 3D printed versions of lots of Star Wars ships, including an Episode 7 X-Wing, for X-Wing Miniatures, or the website letting people make their own cards for the game. I might be just too used to another company being over-eager about suing.)

Get them before they get shut down then.
I've got their asteroids for X-Wing. Really nice, but polystyrene material was a bit of a let down. Shall be buying their trashed Rebel Transport on next pay day.

Yeah, I'll probably look to get them when I can squeeze it in my budget. I'm not a fan of 2D "terrain." Also need a space mat.
I'm thinking the ships would look even better with a bit of glowing red/orange on the edges of the damaged areas, to represent still-smoldering wreckage.

Nice. Not entire subliminal advertising there. ;-)
What's the usual size for X-Wing and Armada? Does 3'x3' cover it? And is that mat 3x3 total, or just the space area?

3x3 is the game area, put whatever you want on the sides...

Well, destroyed Rebel Transport done got lost in the post.
So the maker is sending out a new one, along with 6 extra Asteroids, and has given me a 15% discount! Nice eh?
