Is it?. I found a scrap of paper on a raider saying theres a massive stash of drugs at such and such a location, and it added a mission under the miscellaneous tab for me.

IIRC, I walked in on a fight between the owner of the high rise bar in DC and some other guy, and afterward, the owner wanted me to help with something. He deals in smuggled drugs (to get around the import tax or something like that), but there's some other issue in there (it's been a while, the memory's fuzzy). Along the way you go take out a deal at one of the bridges, and interrogate a female ghoul, who will eventually give up the location of the drug factory. Afterward, the owner decided he didn't want a witness, so he tries to shoot her, and I'm left having to kill him because I said she could go. She did die, though. Later, the father of one of the guys I had to shoot got my attention and asked me about it, I used my Charisma to lie and said Marowski did it, so it's off to Goodneighbor to deal with him for payment from the father who wants revenge for his son. Strangely, despite a lack of witnesses, Marowski knows what I did, and tried to get 2000 caps from me as payment for the harm I caused him. Can't just attack Marowski at his desk in the hotel, so I waited until the middle of the night, snuck into his room, closed the door, and removed his head from his body with a laser pistol at close range. Piper, of course, was not amused by this, though it kept us both from being killed or forking over a bunch of caps. Besides, Marowski was a bad guy, the son was bad, and it was all bad for the Commonwealth.

Bonus quest bugs: I still can't get rid of the Miscellaneous quest to pay Marowski 2000 caps, despite him being quite dead. And the bodies of the people I attacked by the river are still there, continuously restocking their loot, so every once in a while I go through the area and grab some more stuff to sell/salvage.

I wonder if its the same quest?
I don't know who any of these people are though, Still not been to good neighbour beyond discovering it.

Aside from going after Marowski, none of it happens in Goodneighbor. Starts in Diamond City, the ambush and drug factory are outside DC, and the guy whose son is killed is also in DC.

I do like how some of the quests tend to spiral out a story. Though in some cases you might not see it until a lot later and you have to be at the right place at the right time (i.e. the asylum quest line where you think you're done and then later it picks up the REAL quest line somewhere else).

I found me some X-01iii armour. But I ran out of aluminium mid upgrade so it's mostly mkvi, apart from the chest and left leg which still need upgrading.
Only had to kill an assaultron and sentry bot to get it.
plasma grenads are awesome btw.

Starting to get some annoying bugs now. Turned up at sanctuary to find half a wall missing from my power armour bunker. Couldn't replace it as I'm at full build there, so had to delete a load of balcony fencing to reconstruct my wall. ¬_¬. There was something else last night that really pissed me off at the time and can't remember what it was.

Rad scorpions keep flying off on death as well.

Also went for a wander round the glowing see in combat armour, which was fun.

So I'm playing this playthrough "clean".
But I think I've found my first mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5032/?) for my second playthrough.

Also I think i'm going to find my spare ssd out to install it on for my next playthrough. While loading times are faster than console, they could still be faster.

The only mod i've installed so far has been to get around the build limit for towns. I couldn't stand not being able to finish certain parts of my towns (as badly as I did). That being said, xmas time is going to have 1-2 days of just doing that.

The X-01 armor fully upgraded is boss. The only thing I've had to watch out for so far is the level 6? turrets. Things like super mutant masters with miniguns are just irritating =P

I haven't messed with the build limit yet cause I saw a lot of comments on a reddit thread discussing settlers pathing or something having problems with items placed over the limit.
But second playthrough will be no holds barred :D

Finally took over the Castle.

Queen Crab thingy? Not a problem, I had lots of missiles.

Glowing Crab Thingy? Always made a bee-line for me, even when someone else triggered it, and I hadn't shot at it....many saves later, job was a good'un.

Currently in Vault 81, looking to flog off some of the stuff I'm carrying around for no good reason.

I used a console command to tweak the build limit in Sanctuary, but haven't been able to get it to work in other places (in fact, it might have broken The Castle). I just can't find a settlement size mod I feel comfortable with.

I grabbed a couple of the extra item mods, too. Need to figure out which is which, because I'd highly recommend the one that uses building materials that make sense, over the one where you can even set up trees and rocks and cars and such but it all takes cloth (how do you build a concrete wall out of cloth?!?). Still, I used the one with the "realistic" materials to add a little to my settlement. I scrapped the funky building I'd put together for my followers to sleep in (the floors weren't level and it pissed off my OCD) and built a larger wooden building on another empty lot in the cul-de-sac with a bottom floor for lounging, second floor for sleeping, and a covered rooftop with benches and picnic tables (and turrets). In the spot the old building occupied, I set up a single-room schoolhouse with student desks, a desk for the teacher, US flag, and left some room for a "play area." Then scrapped my house and rebuilt it as a nicer two-story home with the bedroom upstairs, and fiddled around some "walls" to try to set up interior walls (why are these not a thing?!?) so there was even a bathroom with a decent toilet and shower. Still have a lot of empty space to fill.

But that now means my Sanctuary has a large bunk house (with resting room); a large meeting hall/dance hall with rooftop bar; a rec room with pool table, dining table, decorations; a covered outdoor "shopping center" facing the river with tables set up (including riverside tables); a metal workshop with power armor stations on the bottom floor and crafting stations, desk, and storage upstairs; a personal house with bedroom and bathroom; schoolhouse; plenty of defenses set up; and a small "farm."

I might be enjoying all of that a bit much.

Currently in Vault 81, looking to flog off some of the stuff I'm carrying around for no good reason.

If you want to get all the stuff in Vault 81 done, make sure to talk to the girl whose cat ran off... getting the cat back is a necessary part of the vault's quests, but it doesn't really make it obvious that you should talk to the girl and do that.

I'm actually glad I was able to... it's a grey tabby named "Ashes" and I have a grey/orange tabby named Ashley which I shorted to "Ash" so it felt a little close to home when the cat ran out into the scary big Wasteland. Luckily it doesn't run off far, and goes right back when told to.

The building's starting to piss me off. I acquired a new marina settlement opposite the scrapyard in the southwest. Scrapped literally everything. Still half full on the settlement bar. They need to patch the hell out of settlement building now the novelty has worn off ¬_¬
Still spend hours doing it. I just want more options, none wrecked stuff, and more space to build.

Mystery I've taken to dealing with mirelurks by targetting their legs from either a narrow gap or an elevated position.

Yep. It was a lot more interesting feature than I think they imagined it would be. Now we could use some expansion of it via DLC or something (preferably a free update).

I'd also love to be able to either scrap the homes in Sanctuary, or repair the walls. It's sad to see so many lots I can't build on, and people are constantly hammering away at them, but it does nothing. If I could scrap them at least, I could make a better community setup.

It's one of the features that helps the game come alive as an RPG for me, feeling like you're really trying to set up these points of light in the Wasteland and helping people achieve some level of normality. So yeah, give me more options! Interior walls, better lighting, more ability to scrap stuff, have floors actually cover grass and stuff, items that don't look like you just picked them up from a bombed-out building, etc.

Something that surprised me was finding a mod with settlement walls and doors and stuff that were "hidden," but the code and all was in the game, and these included much better looking walls (at least the wood walls) and doorways (having a doorway without all kinds of gaps to look into the building and allow air in and out is nice). But then I also read that apparently the settlement stuff was originally only meant to be something for modders to play with, and they only expanded it because it was fun for the people testing the game. So I think they just got surprised with how popular it is and weren't prepared with extra stuff. That said... that's what game updates are for! (And mods, too.)

I'm trying to avoid using the Internet for anything (and keep forgetting to get the guide... the cool version, with map and all), but I tend to wander around a lot anyway. There’s a mod on the Nexus (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5109/) that edits Nick Valentine’s dialogue to have smooth jazz playing in the background when he speaks. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geoileO61ow)

http://ic.pics.livejournal.com/pink_cobalt/3363125/195877/195877_original.gif

Also a non-mod/console command method to increase settlement sizes:

A little trick that can increase your settlement size (http://needlesslycryptic.tumblr.com/post/134886180885/fallout-4-settlement-size-fix) when you’ve hit the building limit! No need for console or modding either, so it’s a win win

step 1 gather about 15 or more pieces or weaponry, it doesn’t matter if it’s melee weapons or guns

step 2 store all these weapons in your workshop inventory. done? okay now put them back into your inventory. exit your inventory. just bear w me

step 3 now drop all these 15+ weapons on the ground, then start bulding mode and

Very important step select each weapon on the ground and store it in workshop’s inventory again via building mode, don’t scrap it store it!

see that settlement size meter go down aww yeah!

However going close to or over double the size can damage your saves and crash the game.

Checked pipboy, no sanctuary quest. Continued gaming.

I haven't had any game breaking bugs, but I have had quite a few small ones. numbers for plantable crops keeps going up and down. I opened the game, had 70 carrots, next time I started I had seven. certain things like that keep changing. I don't see the issue with building limits personally, there is more than enough for anything I want to do.

Psychosplodge

The building limits on some large settlements are quite small for the size. I had a beautiful row of terraced individual shacks at the drive in. I've had to scrap them and replace them with A single barracks building because I had no left build allowance left to run up shops or anything else.

I'm hoping next time I load it clears it. That does seem to clear most of the little bugs like that for me.

True Storms - Wasteland Edition (http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4472/?) is a mod that might be a bit too much touch of realism. Aside from storms apparently covering much of the map when they happen (which is actually an accurate representation of how storms usually work), the look and especially sound are way too close to the real thing. The first time I found myself in the middle of a thunderstorm I kept running between covered buildings in Sanctuary, just out of habit. I swear I felt like I was getting drenched and cold just from hearing that sound and seeing pouring rain. Have to give kudos to the mod maker for that one.

I'm mildly annoyed by the dialogue tied to the repeating settlement quests. Yeah, it gives me stuff to do with the main quest over (ditto Railroad quests, which I just got started on, but I have had to defend a bunch of their checkpoints). And I'm okay if people say "There's a group harassing us, please kill them." But no way do I believe a guy claiming Super Mutants came into Sanctuary Hills and wrecked or took just about everything and "we'd all be dead if they caught us by surprise." After the last Gunner attack where they hit SH from the main road, the cul-de-sac, *and* from behind the homes on the curve of the main road, I went around putting up turrets behind all the buildings and hedges (especially after seeing the ones on the main road mulch an attack on their own, and the turrets in the cul-de-sac did well there). Sanctuary Hills has over 400 defense, with just one artillery piece and the rest being turrets. There's literally no way to get in without turrets covering it. So HOW do Super Mutants get in and tear up the place? And why is nothing damaged?

Minor gripe, but it does annoy me when I'm putting all that work into defense.

Also in the world of modding: SSEx settlement stuff mod uses cloth for everything, so probably not ideal, even though it lets you make a lot of stuff. If the immersion issue doesn't bug you, well, go for it. Homemaker is much better, but I need to check if there's an issue with the update, because while it organized stuff better, I also can't find most of the stock tables and couches, which kind of sucks.

Ah, now I can confirm that theory to my friend. He was telling me yesterday about how he did that to his Sanctuary, but I had the feeling it wouldn't help. Last time I was attacked there were guys inside houses, I doubt they walked into them. I just put a ring of turrets around the area, as "hidden" as possible so it doesn't ruin the feel of a peaceful community rather than a military base.

It is most frustrating that with a larger settlement it's often better to have all your turrets facing inwards than outwards.

On the subject of weapons the missile launcher is quite OP at higher levels as the heavy weapon expert and explosives perk stack on it so can do like 650 damage a shot with seeking rounds.

Syringer: Fires syringes you have to craft, and you basically have to fire it and then quickly swap weapons to be effective. At that point, why not start with the other weapon?
Broadsider: Can be fun, but very limited in ammo. Really just there as a joke.

Meanwhile, the Overseer's Guardian is just insane.

Meh to base building.

Cheeky sods can build it themselves. I've stuff to shoot and a son to find - even though I think it's totes obv how that story is going to end.

Maybe you're not into that kind of stuff, but when you're getting toward the end of the main quest, at least give it a go. I didn't expect to enjoy it as much as I have, maybe just a bit of added bonus fun, but it's become really fun setting up what I like to see as points of light in the darkness. It's another aspect for me to role-play a character who's trying to clean up the Commonwealth and establish some semblance of sanity and civilization again.

But then, my second character, a more direct bloke, isn't doing so much settlement building. So I guess I can see how the personality of your character might also lead to less settlement work. (Still built a nice two-story "core" building in Sanctuary, though. But that's nothing compared to the other character having a two-story bunkhouse, two-story meeting and dance hall, bar, two-story workshop, schoolhouse, two-story house, and built up marketplace. Trying to figure out where to add a church, too.)

So I've added two more settlements last night, then spent time building them.
Had a failed defence at Oberland as too efficient at defending again and didn't trigger the success state again. Also first synth infiltrator revealed in the attack.

Working for the Brotherhood is kind of weird. So far they've asked me to hit up two (maybe three now?) of my own settlements for crops. Unfortunately, the options are:

1. Convince them it's the best idea (Charisma test)
2. Imply a threat (Cha)
3. Pay 1000 caps
4. Pay 500 caps (Cha)
5. Do nothing

Since my BoS-loving character has a whopping Charisma 2, I have a nearly impossible time even on "easy" Charisma checks. Alcohol doesn't help. I might be able to convince someone while using Grape Mentats (+5 Cha), but I need to get more hubflower to make more of them. So far I managed to convince one it's in their best interests, but the other I ended up paying, and I don't have enough caps for that to become a thing, especially as the quests only pay just under 100 caps.

I finally got the hot pink flames power armor paint job last night (looks pretty cool, too). I was probably spoiled on entering the maze by knowing about all the traps from an online video that mentioned the place, but given how paranoid I've gotten I probably would have been fine. Helps that I found another half-suit of X-01 power armor before I went in.

On the power armor note, I'm bummed that I forgot a warning with one of the settlement mods, I think it's the one that changes the settlement limit. IIRC, there's a note that it'll reset power armor frames to what they were when you got them. As a result, I've had three or four frames revert back to having next to nothing or even nothing on them. I don't think any of them were X-01, so losing the pieces of armor on the frames shouldn't be too huge a blow (I still have nearly 30 sets of BoS T-60b in a cabinet), but I did lose any mats used in repairing and modding those pieces, so that sucks.

I've been playing this a lot lately and it really does scratch that Bethesda open world game itch in the way that only Bethesda knows. Doing pretty much anything you want, taking the story at your own pace and having a massive playground at your disposal never gets old even if it is just a new coat of paint when each of their new games releases. I'm loving the game but lord knows I wouldn't give it a Game of the Year award over Bloodborne or the Witcher 3 for the quality of experience. Still, neither of those have Fallout 4 beat for pure fun which is the most important thing anyway! The glitches only add to the charm of Bethesda games.....unless an NPC you are trying to do quests for randomly decides to start walking off into the sunset and getting mauled by a pack of Deathclaws because of a random AI subroutine. I wanted to bring down the Institute, so had to stay in their good graces, which meant offing the Courser, but I also wanted to keep the Railroad alive to help fight the Institute, and here comes the Brotherhood of Steel (uninvited, mind you) to join the attack. I'm left killing so many synths and Knights. Got a lot of power armor that day, shot down a lot of vertibirds. One of the traders (Lucas, I think?) got caught in the middle, got one of his guards killed, I managed to use Pacify on him to get him to stop shooting (which saved him from the Railroad pasting him, because he was shooting everyone). Okay, but if the most important thing is fun, and Fallout 4 is the most fun, then wouldn't that make it your "game of the year?"

I might be applying too much logic here...

For "quality of experience" I'm talking about art style, visuals, soundtrack, sound design, world building, story, characters, challenge, depth to gameplay, etc. Think of it like this; Citizen Kane is a phenomenal master-piece of film-making and deserves to be at or near the top of "Best Ever Film" lists, but I enjoy watching - for example - Guardians of the Galaxy more as it is a "lighter" viewing that is highly entertaining, even though quality-wise it simply doesn't belong in the same breath as Citizen Kane (though GotG is a great film and my favorite MCU film but that's neither here nor there.)

Erik Setzer
01-08-2016, 11:02 AM
Eh... That's all subjective, though. People think Citizen Kane and movies like it are "better" just because they focus on some super-serial plot and trumped up drama. A movie like GotG replaces some of the drama with fun and effects. The characters aren't necessarily shallower, the movie just decides not to spend as much time on drama as a means of "character development" or anything like that.

It seems that only super-serial drama-filled movies can be considered "great" movies, which is just ridiculous.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

Does that make me Libertarian, or just The Daily Mail?

As a libertarian, I actually helped the Railroad because I believe people should have their liberty. Didn't have a problem taking out the Brotherhood and Institute (well, aside from the family connection) because both of them looked to control people, and that's not cool. Don't have to be an "SJW liberal" to be in favor of people having the freedom to do what they want as long as it doesn't harm anyone and be treated equally (again, so long as they're not being total *******s).

Then I decided to play a character who isn't myself (okay, the first character *was* different because that time I saved the Commonwealth as a woman, and I'm not a woman in real life), and made a hateful SOB who likes to smash people up close and will help the Brotherhood destroy all Synths, and a goth nerd who's totally proud of her son because he's leading the biggest group of scientists around. Those have both been amusing (and less urges to murder Preston).

I think we got what we "expected"... and then some. The bottom part of the image is pretty accurate, though. I like it.

Have to admit, I've probably made my game insanely unstable with some of the mods, probably the settlement ones, but it's nice to clear the rubbish out of some settlements, and be able to build more varied settlements. Problem with the scrap mods is that they're using some trick that apparently causes you to be unable to sprint through the area any more (and they reset your bloody power armor... think I might clean up Red Rocket more and set up a power armor bunker there). The sprinting issue means I think I'll leave the island as it is, rather than clean all the remaining gunk from it, because it's way too big to run across.

Hmm. Speaking of the island, I think I forgot to wire up the main building there. Set up a four story "main building" with a floor for sleeping, a floor with a classroom and prayer room, a floor for relaxing and workbenches, and a floor I haven't decided on what to do with. And a top deck to check out the view. But that's a lot of lights, and I ran out of copper somewhere.

I'd be worried about how much effort I'm putting into settlements, but then I read the comments here and I feel better.

Speaking of prayer rooms... I set up a church in Sanctuary Hills across the street from the school, with pews facing a lectern, an upstairs area with a small desk and two chairs and a quaint living space, and candles for lighting. Preston walked in, sat down, and started praying. So far it seems Piper and Preston are both at least mildly religious. Think I'll assign a settler to the bed and give him a preacher outfit I got from a vendor, label him "Pastor" if that's an option in the settler renaming mod. (I was wondering where there was even a preacher in-game for there to be an outfit, then finally met the one in Diamond City.)

Also the missing doctor at sanctuary? Never appeared and the population count dropped so I put her there with the console, and she counted straight away as being part of the settlement so it knew she was supposed to be there, so where the bloody hell was she?

I've run into some more bugs from mods... which sucks, because I like them. I think the "clean up anything" mod does a bit more breaking than just removing the ability to sprint in an area when you use it. I went through the Castle cleaning up junk on the floor and in other areas, then couldn't build anything inside the hallways (and if I tried to move something already there, it wouldn't let me place it anywhere). So to get some beds for my Minutemen, I had to go outside and find some space to build a bunkhouse. Unfortunately, the best location I could find that I could actually build was in front of the closed "door" leading to the armory. Then I had to do the quest to get my artillery plans, and the woman leading me tried walking through the bunkhouse repeatedly and would get confused and keep trying to walk through a wall. Finally got her to follow me where we needed to go, came back out, pressed the button to open the door, and it opened up so that it was inside the building I'd set up. Not sure if it'll bug me enough to scraped the parts of the building it's "inside" and modify the building.

I also decided to do a playthrough of a complete jerk who wants to kill pretty much everyone (that the game will allow). While scrapping stuff in Sanctuary, I accidentally scrapped a part of the road, so I just went through and scrapped everything I could, leaving a very uneven mostly brown landscape, which now has a large building in the middle, populated by one man. I even walked around Concord, skipping out on saving Preston and gang, so that I wouldn't deal with their annoyance in Sanctuary. Actually have three areas for settlements now (Sanctuary, Red Rocket, and that one house by the river), but no settlers, because who needs 'em? I also found a suit of power armor in the middle of nowhere, T-45 just missing the helmet, out in the woods. I finally got around to going to Diamond City, and it completed the main story up to the point of telling me the next step is to find someone to talk to about Shaun. So Preston and company? Yeah, they can stay in Concord a while. I'm tempted to go see if I can track down Kellogg on my own, and kill him just because.

I'll end up killing hours at a time working on settlements. But downloading all these mods has my items messed up again... I'm thinking of redoing the market in my main character's Sanctuary hills, but I can't find the store items. Probably will re-do my workshop, too. And I need to find a settlement I'm not prone to build anything at, and set up a "proper" power armor bunker there. The Airport might be a good choice, since I can't build a recruitment beacon or send anyone there. Clean it once, then shuffle the power armor there (will take forever), and fix it up again. I think I might have permanently lost some pieces of X-1 somewhere, though, which shouldn't be possible. :(

I got distracted by Wasteland 2... It's been pretty fun so far (about four hours in). It's an old school style RPG, and given that Fallout was basically a Wasteland sequel that had to be renamed and changed a little because EA is EA, they feel pretty similar in theme. Wasn't as prepared for actions to have consequences and timed objectives, though, or quests that don't really tell you exactly what to do. I.e. a guy's house was burning down and I couldn't find a way to turn on the water valve above it (though maybe I did, just too late to save the house, because the fire ended?). Two people were running for mayor of the town, I helped the nicer one, and the jerk still got the votes, promptly telling my people to get out of town. Fixed a generator that needed fixed, but it was in a guy's shop, and he was so pissed off at the noise and smoke that he refused to trade with me any more. Biggest thing, though, was being told two places need help, and as you're trying to help one, you're hearing reports over the radio from people at the other location being wiped out, as they're told, "We're sorry, we only have one team to send out, and they're helping with an emergency elsewhere, but we're sure they'll be there as soon as they can." No way to avoid it. It's realistic, it makes sense in the story, but it still makes you feel awful when you're hearing people dying on the radio.

I love the way I can use different means to do things, too. See a locked box? Either pick the lock or bash the lock. Ditto for gates. Had to get someone out of a cage, which involved finding a way to get rid of the kids harassing her (not as easy to sort out as you'd think) and then unlocking the cage (which, if you fail, would have to be fixed by someone with mechanical skill). So you need a well-rounded team and it pays to loot everything, continuously sell junk (easy "Sell Junk" button helps) and gear you don't need, and have the puzzle-sorting skill of an adventure game veteran.

The quirks are kind of fun, too. Gave the doctor a quirk that means he's even better at healing other people with med kits, but can't use them on himself (but others can, just not as effectively). Had a character set up to be melee specialist (who also bashes down doors and intimidates people), I gave her "Psychopath" as a quirk which gives her a base penalty but gives stacking bonuses as she gets in more hits. Can't remember what I gave the shooting specialist. My leader has a variety of leadership and talking skills, don't think I gave her a quirk.

The result of having such a varied set of characters is that I can do a lot, but they end up being very different in combat. The leader is best in the middle of people and can hold her own. The doc isn't awful in a fight, but I usually have to hide him and pop him out to run and heal someone when they need it. The psychopath runs at people as fast as possible to chop them up. And the gunman finds some cover and shoots up the enemy.

It's on sale for $20 right now at the Humble Bundle store. Definitely worth it if, unless you're really opposed to old school style RPGs. (I know some people who are. Usually at least a decade younger than me.)

Sorry, this was meant to be a quick, "I've been playing this game and I like it!" Ended up being a mini-review.

I never bother with Fallout dlc, I am always sick of it by the time I finish the main game.

forgot we had a dedicated FO4 thread.

Here we have a supply robot. Missile arm, gatling laser arm, shoulder launchers. Big, Very Red, and connecting my new settlement (mirelurk construction)

and here is said settlement.

Four stories of junk. Construction was near lethal.
Ground floor shopping experience ( that's bugged so for some reason despite there being three shops only the clinic works) first and second floor are filled with beds. The third floor is a rooftop beer terrace and connects via a bridge to a security tower with two guards with fully tooled up legendary hunting rifles and an artillery piece.
Or three hours of no real progress :D

That's terrifying.

I wish they'd hurry and get the creation kit and the rest of the dlc out, then I can start modding without constantly worrying about updates breaking mods.
I'd have to finish my vanilla game though then.

Oof... Yeah, the least favorite part last night. Finally had to uninstall Settlement Keywords, which then required downloading versions of mods that weren't rigged to work with it (I think I still need to replace one or two). Then I had to turn off and on some mods to find which one was crashing the game on load (and it was something I don't think I actually used). As it is, my game works fine now, but a LOT of options are missing from my settlement building stuff, like pretty much all of the metal foundations. Guess that's what I get for going so far off the reservation. But whatever, my nightclubs and swanky clean metal buildings look awesome! As does my Old West inspired Sanctuary (only about 1/5 built, if even that).

As for this DLC... I'm still trying to figure it out. Built a nice concrete area with metal grating to hold in combatants, built a platform around the edges with railing and seats for people to watch, a small bar, a surgeon, and lots of red lighting. No meat so I just set up Gunner cages, took a while to figure out how to use them (forgot to attach them to power, d'oh!). Caught four, released them with the beta wave emitter going, they still attacked me. That's a bit of a mess. I'll figure it out.

However, I think I did a good job rigging the system to release the captured specimen... I set up switched pylons on the raised platform by a microphone (for the announcer, of course), so I can open up sets of cages using different switches from the safety of the platform.

So I discovered the wasteland is woefully lacking in concrete. But if you give Sheffield a level 3 traders stand he had a shipment of 100 and a shipment of 200 available.

Sheffield's a trader too?!?

FFS... That's three now, at least, that I had without realizing they were traders. (Still need to get Vault-Tec set up. Had to send him to a different settlement before I could assign him to a shop, and he was taking his time getting there, so I got bored and forgot while hunting for stuff to do fights.)

I set up a second arena, but I'm not sure if the switches are wired properly on this one. They keep registering as having power, then not having power, without me changing them. Won't know until I wait for them to catch some people. I tried to go out to find radstags so I could try to catch a Yao Guai (so I can use its meat to catch a Deathclaw), but ended up coming across every other kind of created (radscorpions, bloodbugs, bloatflies, mutant hounds, etc., an amazing number of which were the "glowing" variety). Even stumbled across settlements I forgot I had. (Probably would have been more successful if I spent more time, but half my evening went to assembling some new Pestilens models.)

Yeah I want to catch a cat. Can I find softshell mirelurk meat now that I need it?
I sent the vault 81 wilderness trader to my settlement. Never appeared. the doc turned up three times and vanished every single time. Can't get her back now even with the console commands.
