This is the master roundup thread for all things UK SALUTE 2015

For this one thread, you can post on any and all game systems, GW and otherwise, so take your cameras and put stuff here!

Happy hunting everybody!

(we'll move this thread to a better spot after the show, but put it in 40K rumors to get it maximum exposure for the moment)

I always forget when Salute is on! Only been once, and that was running the GW demo games. Happy days those.

Ah well.

Bring me many photos.

Bit of a heads up in advance then, (as I can't go anyway because work has stuck me on a ship out in Ecuador, also making me miss the new Avengers film :S ), about some new stuff that Wargames Tournaments will be having on show there.

Including:

- Some "Junk town" structures, suitable for Orks or Necromunda. The door in the gatehouse shown in the photo moves up and down I believe, moved by a cog in the side.

- Slot and Stack skirmish set, also good for Necromunda or other games with lots of corridors and levels... in fact, maybe this is the answer to overpowered Wraithknights? Just make the terrain so dense that they can't fit on the table!

You can build that to basically any height just adding in more slotted bulkheads. There are various sized floors/roof sections too.

Various other bits too like a church building, an orky hangar building, etc, lots more photos on https://www.facebook.com/Wargamestournaments?ref=ts&fref=ts /

OK, this is probably not what everyone wants to know but I'll give you a quick rundown and rely on Energon Goodie to give better reports....

First thing I saw was this Blood Angel and accompanying IG trooper. Very good. They would not swap my pet gibbon for vouchers though. The Blood Angel was not pretty enough for a bangle but hey he was a giant gene beast so who am I to argue...

The next thing caught my eye was some excellent Warzone stuff. Good quality although it is not quite as chunky as the old mutant chronicle days.

Firstly - Cybertronic Walker. Taller than dread, smaller than knight.

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/denzark/IMG_0818_zpst1yfkfav.jpg

Next, walker jobby from the Dark mutant side. Was nice, would fit in any Chaos Army.

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/denzark/IMG_0819_zpshmjnw0zv.jpg

Next, a flame tank which was knocking around behind the Brotherhood faction. Again, good quality kit, liked the look.

Next, the afore-mentioned Wargames Tournament MDF. It was nice, looked good and yes the luminous cog moves the gate up and down. Think £15 was just for the tower.

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/denzark/IMG_0821_zpsjbcayswp.jpg

Next, a landing pad (skyshield) clearly Eldar stylee....

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/denzark/IMG_0822_zpsxnsqrdnz.jpg

See the excellent icon on it.... However it is not etched deeply at all and you will have to do something epically clever to not avoid losing it under the paint...

Next up shows MBM scenery's excellent Humvee style vehicle. I put this up because a) I liked their quality and: b) It screams Cult Limousine to me....

Next up is a shot of the excellent 'Dambusters' participation game. As I watched, this aircraft dropped the bomb, it skipped the 3 times you can see and smashed open the dam! As the motto of the mighty 617 Squadron goes: "Apres Moi, Le Deluge'...

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/denzark/IMG_0825_zpsf8is273d.jpg

Next, The Galactica goes to flank speed to engage some 'Frakking Toasters'. This game saw several Battlestars facing off against Base wotsits. Worrying in the middle was a destroyed Battlestar, the lit engines were really good.

I am told this was Dropzone Commander but not sure. It was massive, well built and you can see the lit hangar deck with something (possibly an actual tabletop mini) emerging.

Salute draws many new products - but also some smaller firms. As an 'honoured mention' check out these guys - Maelstrom edge. You should be able to make all the details from the flyer. In short, good fluff, nice minis, a clever terrain that you just add plasticard to. 2 reassuring things - their kickstart is funded and they say it won't take 3 years to deliver. Also, he tells me it is a tight ruleset!

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/denzark/IMG_0831_zpsquk7olwf.jpg

These next 2 shots are from a resin terrain firm I had not come across before - 'The Square'. All in for £21 the bits I had were a good mix of budget to quality, I felt I had a good deal.

Next, a clever thing. You know the old 'flashy candle' explosions? Well these were just well painted, 50p each - but weighted on a coin. I got 7 because that's how many drop pods I stick down at 1500pts...

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/denzark/IMG_0834_zpsfufwoxuq.jpg

This next shot shows some bits I got from the Zinge industries stall. Having come across them online, I welcomed the opportunity to see them in the flesh, I found the quality good. They do a clever flexible tech bitz range, that can fold and roll around stuff, so, vets, pipes, ammo belts etc. Also there LEDs for vehicles were there - very good.

They were next to Anvil Industrys who also do good bitz. There was also a few bits and bobs from Lounge Denizen Colonel Gravis (Curious Constructs) and I can tell you these are awesome up close.

http://i797.photobucket.com/albums/yy257/denzark/IMG_0835_zpsbtc4mkdc.jpg

The next 2 are the Show 'gizzit' - an Agincourt archer by the Perry Twins. Nice good quality hard plastic mini.

Lastly, I would like to 'mini review' the event. The Excel London is an awesome venue, good transport links, parking (although £15 for the day the gouging tw*ts) and the hall with the stands was vast.

herein lies the problem. The place was chocker with games, geeks and commercial stands. Every taste was catered for. But It was bloody crowded - Forgeworld had a 30 metre queue when I went past. A lot of the stalls were crowded around, and there was a huge amount of people rocking the 'giant back pack' look. Where my photos above are blurry its because I had to Iphone zoom rather than get in there and do a decent job. I found it a little too crowded and next year would probably not take my pet Gibbon. Also, I would have done better to plan my way around - so I could have shopped for bargains first thing, then got in some participation games. Might be worth also staying overnight in town and making it a weekend. I felt a little overwhelmed and there was a lot I didn't feel I gave enough attention to - the Antares thing was there, I missed out on a free Dredd mini, saw very little of the painting competition (which had awesome standards).

I will definitely go back - just using the 7 Ps next time and thinking about how to tackle it in advance. A big thanks though to South London Warlords for a mega event.

something (possibly an actual tabletop mini)

using the 7 Ps next time

I know six Ps (proper planning prevents piss-poor performance). What's the seventh?

Well, that's no good, you've gone and stuck an "and" in there. Now it's the 7 Ps and 1 A.

looks like it was a fun day, wish i could of gone but couldn't find anyone to go with sadly. The hoth table looks amazing and I'm not even into SW at all. That dropzone ship is mindblowing - Dave and hawk wargames are doing really well it seems, I like how it is sub-orbital, makes it different to all the other spaceship games out there.

Any further info on that Battlestar Tabletop game? Hard to tell the scale...but I'm seeing Star Wars Armada/Battlestar crossover potential.
(EDIT) Never mind, found it. Its Full Thrust using the 1/4100ish scale BSG models...The table is something like 10 feet x 6 feet (the BSG models are about 13" long).
