I love me some Ogryns. I've had these boys knocking around for a while; finally got them all painted up and ready for the tabletop. Their bodies are WHFB Ogres, with Bullgryn parts from the new kit. It's not a difficult conversion, but it did require a Dremel. Those plastic Ogryns are considerably more svelte than their WHFB contemporaries...

yeah, wouldn't have noticed that they weren't ogryn bodies if you hadn't of mentioned it. I do like their huge shields, shame they can't have those shields and the mauls.

I wish they'd made that an option, I'd take it every time, (even though it makes them 60pts a pop!)

These guys look great, I've had a bit of a renaissance lately for Bullgryns. Pick your targets right and they can stomp through it or hold it up for a good while.

Totally agree that Mauls should be an option for slab shield wielders... Mostly because the power bucklers and grenade gauntlets both look like poo.

Slab Shields are boss as well. I personally give the Bone'ead a Power Maul, as he's the Challenge monkey to save the Psyker and Priest I run in the squad. He once beat Deathleaper down without taking a Wound, which amused me to no end.

I think the best-looking combo would be slabshield + ripper gun, but that's because I've always loved the idea of the ripper gun. :)

Wow, great conversion - can't tell at all that they've got Fantasy Ogres in 'em. Could use a little bit more gap-filling (not great advice for fully-painted models, I know).

Can't unsee the gaps in the cannons :(

The bodies are flawless though.

Are these Orcs?

I just might consider scratching an Orc Titan if they are; outstanding work on these,

Imperial Guard Bullgryns (Ogryns/40k ogres)

Are these Orcs?

Nope. :) They're called Bullgryns (http://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Militarum-Auxilla-Bullgryns), and they're from the latest Imperial Guard codex (the 'Astra Militarum' one). They're basically Imperial Guard Ogryns who are equipped for a defensive counter-assault role, and they're surprisingly good at the job. These ones are equipped with weapons and kit designed to provide what amounts to a mobile bullet-proof shield for the infantrymen who stand behind them.

Basically because I love those giant shields. :)

Though don't let the fact they're not Orcs stop you from scratching a Gargant, Bladder! I'd pay cash money to see that!

As would, I suspect, we all.

I've been planning to scratchbuild one in Epic scale to cast up for about two years now.

Maybe this summer...

Can't unsee the gaps in the cannons

Gaps in the cannon were deliberate. I always figured the IG would produce cheap and cheerful, AK-47 style weapons out of pressed sheet steel. The gaps are meant to evoke that; the idea being the grenade gauntlets are a bit like automatic PIAT guns (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PIAT), using automatically reloading springs, rather than explosive gas to launch the rounds.

Cheap and mass-produced and with as few moving parts as possible because the Ogryn wielding it thinks it's a hammer, not a gun.

As an Epic loving fool what aesthetic would you go for? Pot bellied or boxy?

Build the Gargant up in layers, the way the old one used to be. Make some latex molds from the initial model, then cast in resin. It's really simple, and I've done it before.

Made this Obliterator:

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb183/MaltonNecromancer/Obliterator/P5120336.jpg
Cast it up a bit later on:

You can kind of see where I went wrong and where I went right; I've got better at it since. Like anything, it's just another skill.

Casting stuff is actually pretty easy. I've made all sorts with it. It's just time-consuming and awkward.

If you want to have a go all the stuff you need is pretty much here (http://www.mbfg.co.uk/category-186/polycraft-moulding-casting-resin-kit-small.html). If you're going to do miniatures though, don't buy a lot. Once opened, it's got a five month shelf-life, after which it crystallises and becomes useless. I've made the mistake of buying 'economy' before, and it's not worth it if you're only doing things like torsos and heads.

I've always meant to learn how to do two-part molds, but it feels like it's just beyond me. :(

oh so you want to make epic gargants, I thought you were making epic gargants then somehow making them larger.

The Oblit is really cool! How do you manage all the fine detail rivet work? Such a great detail but it drives me mad to pull it together.

I've yet to try my hand at casting. I really should though. It would save a ton of time sculpting the same bitz over and over!

People have asked me this before. (http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/showthread.php?44720-Scratchbuilding-a-Heavy-Bolter-with-Plasticard-A-Beginner-s-Guide) Have a read. I'm sure I have seen somewhere tiny model rivets on a roll, a thin strip rolled up with the rivets in a line, and you take them off one at a time. if I haven't, and I just invented that, then patent pending me. copyright Roll O'Rivets

Well Orcs or not they look like Orcs, I have a couple of boxes of scrap styrene from several years of building Imperial titans; too small for building but sufficient for a Orc Titan trim (Pardon the martini buzz) so watch for an Orc titan build as soon as I dump this Reaver project.

Who knew there was such an Orc following???????????? :D
