View Full Version : Guard don't do small units!

This was a project that I started almost a year ago when I first heard in the rumours that we'd be able to take full platoons as single troop choices.

First off, here's my command section 571 Infantry company, with alternative advisers, escorting alternative sentinel and my marbo.

Here's the beast! a full guard infantry platoon (less the conscripts - the Corbanian 1st is a professional army), over 100 guardsmen in total and nearly twelve months worth of painting. Please don't ask about cost, I don't even want to think about it.

So, 2nd Platoon, 571 Infantry company ....

Now I've got to start 1st (Vets) platoon, finish off the armoured company and start my naval beach assault force. Hope you liked the pics guys.

nice work man, and i can sympathize with the cost as i've assembled an entire battle company with attachments for SM's, but i'm looking to do DKoK next...infantry heavy....ugh...

Very nice! It is a ton of work to paint that many guardsmen (I know, I have about 150 painted) but it was well worth the effort. Be sure to post pics of your tanks when you finish em.

Seriously though, seeing the entire unit together makes me want to try harder on my own army. May I ask what color/s blue you used for the camo?

Ah! The inspiration! My next army is Guard and I'm planning to build out a pretty full platoon for my first list. This makes me wanna start it tonight....too bad there are a bunch of Space Marines on my painting table to get done first :)

What's gonna hurt is that at this rate of production, by the time you have a full army list (as I'm in the same boat) the next codex will be out and we'll have to shift our lists again.

Will do mate, just one more to go, then I'm finished with the armoured company for a while at least.

They may chance the selection matey but I reckon tonnes of disposable guardsmen will always be part of the IG codex ;)
