Oh man I LOVE those Scyllax Guardian Automata!! Right up my street and the sort of mechanicum stuff I've been waiting for ever since the army was announced.

The Ogryns and chaos dread are pretty cool too.

Like the Stormhammer though I do wish they'd stuck to the orginal Epic model with twin turrets of twin-cannon goodness.

Solar auxila in general are awesome - love the way their stuff matches the industrial aesthetic of the Mark 2 marines and older imperial vehicles. Do hope further down the line they do another imperial army regiment with a cleaner futuristic look to match the art-deco look of the Mark 4 marines and vehicles like the jetbike and scimitar land speeder.

Have to agree, the new tank does look good but that's not a Stormhammer to me, they can call it one if they like but I much prefer the aesthetic of the old Epic version which was re-created so well by Machinator.

Loving the look of Alexis Pollux, though I have to query the paint job. He's known as The Crimson Fist, so why is the power fist not red, I mean the reason the Crimson Fists paint their gauntlets red is because it was a tradition that started in the Imperial Fists. I'll be getting him for sure though I have no idea as yet as to what use I'll have for him in my army.

Gotta get me one of those Quad Mortar Rapier's too!

for 30k I would still prefer the actual FW thudd gun, I like that old fashioned artillery look over the rapier chassis, especially if I was going to do something like Iron Warriors. the rapiers are nice though, I wonder if they will release them with marine crew as well

I'll probably use my current (old) Thudd Guns for my IW, but then, I don't have crew, so I might need to get new ones anyway. Meh.

The StormHammer let me down, I was really hoping for the flash back to the twin turret, maybe with a splitting fire use as one stat line but if both turrets fire at the same target then big badda boom D-strength stat line.

I do like the 3x multi lasers along the side, wonder what upgrade options will be there... with that many sponsons giving one to a heavy flamer to keep crunchies off while the other two were ranged would work wonders.

I can answer that!

Any Multilaser can be upgraded to Heavy Bolter (for the AP I guess), Heavy Flamer (row your way into battle with the templates) or a Lascannon. On a one-for-one basis.

Isn't this the very first daemon that shows up in Horus Rising, the one that possesses Loken's 1st Sergeant and kills a bunch of marines until they stop it? Interesting choice, I guess it must show up again later in the story, I'm only up through Prospero Burns...

Large models always feel like a chore to me, whereas I enjoy painting infantry and smaller vehicles. My wallet thanks me for having this mindset ;)

The Chaos Dread doesn't count because in my opinion it looks scrappy, although it will probably look a lot better painted.

The Interceptor though . . yer well, even if it is another Marine release, it is pretty cool. And the debate on whether the Adeptus are awesome is over now as well, the whole range for them is just going to be out right master pieces. Which just means we're going to have to wait even longer for the updates to the rest of the IA books cause the whole studio's obviously on a roll with 30K.

Everything in the HH novels describes them as giant sleek vessels left over from the Unification wars. They were designed primarily for atmospheric flight and could carry 100 marines. The Thunderhawk is continually dismissed by the Astartes as a cheap mass-producable stopgap to replace the losses of the exotic and difficult to produce Stormbirds.

Then we see it, and it's clearly a kit build atop the Thunderhawk chassis to bulk it out, rather than a large completely different design. If anything the Stormbird shown makes the Thunderhawk look sleek and aerodymanic by comparison, instead of the other way around...

I'm hoping it's still early days as it currently looks like an amateur kit bash from someone who only has straight pieces of plasticard and doesn't know how to cut a curve.

Ordinatus Armageddon - bears the massive plasma-based Nova Cannon, capable of blasting apart enemy Titans with one shot or destroying a tank detachment with a single salvo. It was originally constructed for the First War for Armageddon against the forces of Chaos and partially reawakened to be used against the Orks by the Black Templars for the Third War for Armageddon.

Ordinatus Golgotha - carries six Hellfire missiles, capable of annihilating massive swathes of enemy infantry and light vehicles. It was first used on the Squat homeworld of Golgotha against invading Orks.

Ordinatus Mars - armed with the devastating sonic disruptor. This immense weapon can level buildings with ease and annihilate enemy tank formations. Ordinatus Mars was created when civil war broke out on Mars during the Horus Heresy. It was intended to break through the defences of the rebels holding up in the city of Castellum Jericho. (probably the one Forgeworld modeled)

Ordinatus Priam - a huge tunnelling machine purpose-built for the siege of Priam during the Horus Heresy. It was designed to dig down to the planet's crust and move through the white-hot lava beneath. It transported four companies of Imperial Guard to enter Priam after bypassing its defenses, but parts of its shielding failed during the operation, causing it irreparable damage.

Ordinatus Gehenna - equipped with an Apocalypse Cannon, capable of destroying mountains and punching a hole through the planet's crust to release magma. It was fought over during the 13th Black Crusade by the forces of Chaos and the Imperium.

Ordinatus Magentus - equipped with an Sonic Destructor Cannon, capable of annihilating city blocks and moutain slopes. It was part of the Adeptus Mechanicus contingent during the battle against Chaos Space Marines of the Word Bearers Legion on the planet of Tanakreg.

Such a treat and fanservice to us old-hands. Completely unexpected. I would have NEVER thought Forgeworld would release an Ordinatus before a Warlord...

plus they gave it a specific Pattern name, which does suggest they've got more in the works - like eventually happened with the Contemptor/Deredeo, although that admittedly took a while :)

Anyone got an idea of what the scyllax guardian-automata or whatever are? I don't think I've seen rules for these in the first 4 books, but maybe someone has asked the FW guys there? I like the idea of smaller automata, but what are they able to do? Also, how much are they going to cost? :D

I think that's possibly the best looking model from the thread. The Stormbird is interesting but I'm undecided on that one, I always imagined them with more of a reverse delta wing for some reason not a chubbyhawk... *shrugs* wait till theres one in warhammer world for a proper look (someone put the pics up/a thread telling us when there is:D)

Yeah i got the same feeling being there compared to last year.

I think its because FW prereleased images of loads in advance and didnt have much new to show that wasnt for sale.

Also the next book is further away compared to last time.

Personally despite less being revealed i think the Seminars were better than last year

The way they work, they don't force themselve to get stuff done, especially primarchs, they're done when they're done, sometimes it takes a while for someone to feel inspired to do a primarch the justice they deserve, I'd say that this approach is paying off so far

It's about the same size as the Epic model.

Reports say the front tractor unit is about size with a Landraider - as was the Epic model.

And to be honest, it looks better with the gun slung lower, rather than perched up on a gantry.
