The Hades Hive Hyenas - name is as WIP as the force - are a motley band of thugs, thieves and murderers assembled from the dregs of society that collect in the prison planets of the Imperium. Pushed into service during the Second War for Armageddon, they were ideal for defending the underhives of Hades Hive from Ork infiltration, at the small cost of pilfering anything that wasn't nailed down, until they found a crowbar to come back for it, at least.

I've got a small fire team of five with a Grenade Launcher built, and the Force Commander/Gang Leader so far. It'll be a while before they get painted, given the crappy weather and other distractions, so for now they're just good ol' Sprue Grey. I've tried to diversify their bitz, as I found those Masks from the Cadian Command box, and a few Scion heads with decent Respirators. I can imagine them scavenging these and retooling them to dispense drugs, rather than using their standard-issue clunky, bulky respirators. I think I might make it a mark of Veterans vs Guardsmen to have some with the backpack gasmask as just Guardsmen, and some with more sophisticated respirators as older, better equipped Veterans. There's a mix of Kroot, Empire, Cadian, Catachan, Scions and third party bitz in there to help the scavanged feel come out.

Let me know what you think:

very cool, I like them. I bought a box of those empire archers to make a necromunda gang, great minds think alike...

Thanks guys, I'll hopefully have pics of the first ten guys with Grenade Launchers, and the 5 Veterans with a Plasma Gun tonight.

Aiming to add a Sentinel, possibly a couple more guys and a Hellhound converted to be a Chimera after the Infantry are done.

Well, managed to get 15 Hyenas built up this weekend from the parts ordered from Victoria, and splicing in a few from my bitz box. I've decided that Veterans will be wearing red coats and wearing the non-Victoria gas masks, (Scion helmets, Cadian respirators, that sort of thing.) Also got an alternate Leader/potential Sergeant built up. I like to think of him as a proper military man "promoted" to leading the Hyenas in battle after annoying the wrong superior officer:

Sorry for the black basecoat, I find it makes models look terrible in photos. I'll be uploading pics of the 2 Guardsmen squads with Grenade Launcher squads as I paint them, for now here's the Redcoat Veterans - name WIP - partway through the base layer stage. These Empire Archers would make a great base for Praetorians, actually...

I'm liking the funky scrap energy weapon. Would function as either a Plasma or Meltagun in game, as it looks ambiguous towards either, IMO.

Also, what's people's thoughts on these Empire Archer bodies being a suitable proportion for women? I was thinking it'd be handy to get some female heads and arms next time I'm ordering from Victoria, to mix up the squads a bit and add more variety and character to the mix.

Love the conversions. Great use of bits.
I would say they'll look amazing when you get a wash of some kind on those metallic bits.

Thanks! I'd like to call this fire team pretty much done anyway, I quite liked using a bunch of washes and drybrushes to make them feel well-worn. The slightly rusted equipment, dirty, oily and scorched Autoguns, and the dusty...dusters. Will probably do my Shotgun Leader next to focus on him, before bringing it around to the standard Guardsmen with Grenade Launchers.

Thanks! I managed to get the leader painted up this weekend, and also got a group shot together of the Kill team as a whole. It's about finished, just needs tweaks and a slew of paintwork.

It's kinda nice being able to focus on and paint 5 Guardsmen, and it not be a complete waste of time...

Managed to almost finish a Heavy Weapons Team yesterday. Just needs highlights and basing, then it'll be done!

ohhh did you magnetise the gun? that's a good idea!

CoffeeGrunt

Yeah, attached to the tripod and the body of the gun. The crew are also magnetised to the base for easy transport and as Wound markers. Can fit a whole Kill Team in a small tupperware box with bubble wrap.

My Chem Dogs recently 'appropriated' an Elysian Tauros, which I'm houseruling into Kill Team as it suited the feel of a scavenger force given how it plays like a technical. Looking at ruling in alternate weapons not used by the standard kit, (Heavy Bolter as a straight swap for the Heavy Flamer, Heavy Stubber at -5pts or perhaps a T-L Stubber for free.) I wanted something that would play more like the Halo Warthog on the tabletop in effect, so a rapid-firing weapon felt right.

Here's the vehicle as it currently stands, just needs the driver painted then I can call it done!

http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-144.jpg (http://s148.photobucket.com/user/coffeegrunt/media/temporary-144.jpg.html)

Surprisingly small model in person, but now I'm definitely tempted to get another that's going cheap on EBay, and have them as the fast-moving harassment in my Kill Team. Suits the theme as well, IMO. Here are the alternate weapon loadouts I'll be using in friendly games:
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-146.jpg (http://s148.photobucket.com/user/coffeegrunt/media/temporary-146.jpg.html)
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-147.jpg (http://s148.photobucket.com/user/coffeegrunt/media/temporary-147.jpg.html)
http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s36/coffeegrunt/temporary-148.jpg (http://s148.photobucket.com/user/coffeegrunt/media/temporary-148.jpg.html)

The Short-Barreled Autocannon will be a counts-as for the Tauros Grenade Launcher until I find something more suitable. Tried to get a hot, glowing effect on the spent shells being pumped out of the Heavy Bolter, but I don't think I really achieved it.

Awesome, I love the tauros model anyway, and a great paint job

that tauros looks great, and yeah I love Halo's Warthog as well....
