Hey everyone,

I recently got some old Orcs and Goblins from an old friend who doesn't play anymore. It's about 800 - 1000 points of models. It's all old 6th edition models, so the older Night Goblins, but it's free so no complaining on my part.

I don't want to invest too much time and money into these guys so I plan on speed painting them on lunch breaks over a few months. I painted up this test mini at my local GW.

It took about 30-40 minutes of actual painting, so not bad. Hopefully when I am batch painting them it will be about 4 hours for 10. Since the units I got are kind of ragged numbers wise as well I plan on making unit fillers to boost them up to 20 goblins per unit (from about 13-14). Like I said, I don't want to invest a lot of money into something that was free and unplanned so I started sculpting this Squig to stick in my spearmen and create a little diorama.

It only took about 30 mins so far. I started him with left over greenstuff from working on my Tomb King chariot. He is still missing a leg and actual eyeballs.

There probably won't be any painting for awhile since I still need to strip the paint off the old models before I start.

More work done on the squig. This guy is a lot of fun. Maybe I'll sculpt up a small unit of squigs in my spare time. How many make an effective unit?

I still have to do his one foot, but I started bulking out that leg more. I think I may also round out its belly a bit more. Very close now.

I like him/her/it, the drooling tongue adds character to that squig, I can just imagine him on the side of a chariot.....

yes make more, after all Orc & Gobbo armies need at least 3 squigs and two gobbos to make up a herd for army units, and it appears as long as that ratio is mantained, no limits to how many groups in that unit!

SO GO FOR IT!

They are just a basic gaming level. I don't want to spend too much time on my Orcs and goblins besides maybe the characters. They will be painted between other projects. They are fun though :)
