It's kind of Spacey, and it's also kind of Crusadey.

The female space marine model! With a chest like that it must be female.....
Looms like belt fed autocannons and a big missile battery, maybe a whirlwind thing

Being a Dreadnought Chassis, should have a range of weapon fits open to it as well.
And don't forget the auxillary weapon under the chassis. Might be a Heavy Bolter...

Battletech called, they want their Timberwolf back.
In all seriousness, I can't wait to see what they will be doing with it.

Do you think we could construct a name of the model from the file name?

Personally I am liking the look of the new BattleTech style Dreadnought. With two twin-linked autocannons, a cyclone missile launcher and what looks to be a heavy bolter underneath I am expecting this thing to do quite well in the shooting phase.
But we shall see.

Oh I am so green with envy right now, if they are yours you are one lucky sod to have TWO Space Crusade Mission Dreadnought super sized dreads....
Not to mention all those regular dreads...

To those that made the attempt at humor calling this a "female" dread I would call to mind the vast number of large breasted men we see at EVERY CONVENTION AND GAMING EVENT! Lets try to be nice Ladies and Gentlemen. Rant over, sorry been a long day of dealing with teenage boys in driving class.

What a waste of time. It looks pretty stupid, but even if it didn't, another dreadnought pattern is just redundant and a waste of FW's creative resources.

I am going to wait until I have seen the complete model before I make my final decision as to whether or not I decide to buy it. I personally like the look of it so far but the complete model will be the make or break for me on this issue.

Not really. Contemptor pattern is what Dreadnoughts should be (well, I think so anyway :p). Castra Ferrum is the standard - and this is the heavy weapon platform. Provides horrendous amounts of firepower by the look of it, whilst being able to go largely wherever Infantry can. That's a decent support role Marines don't currently have all that well covered.

The marines get yet another dreadnought chassis (as if the two or three that already exist weren't enough) and we Eldar players are STILL waiting on a conversion kit for the Wraithknight.
Its stupid.

I'm yet to see a full picture, I love Dreadnoughts in all their various guises both loyalists and chaos. To me they are a iconic 40k model. But I do think we have enough variants. But I guess it's FW excuse to print money.
However I would much prefer to something new for the Necrons or any other underrepresented xenos army.
I'm actually getting bored of all this HH stuff now. Especially as other FW lines seem to be suffering for it.

It would be nice if they did the special characters from Fall of Orpheus or Maynarkh specific Flayed Ones (Not keen on the current GW ones). A "big" centrepiece model would be nice too. I don't mind the Admech or Solar Auxilia stuff, but the SM stuff is starting to bore me a lot so I relate there.

And now we have a classification, and a full pic.
Say hello to my little friend, the Deredeo class Dreadnought.

That looks more like the Space Crusade robot than an original Dreadnought. Nothing wrong with that, of course, I just think it's odd BoLS claimed it was the original Dreadnought model making a comeback.
Mr Mystery
01-09-2015, 02:19 PM
Robot in Space Crusade was a Dreadnought :)
http://cf.geekdo-images.com/images/pic1378427_md.jpg
Was also used for the Epic Chaos Dreadnought sculpt.

I thought it was called a robot at one point? I thought it might have also been called a Dreadnought, but they kind of waffled around with names. Regardless, it wasn't the original Marine Dreadnought in 40K, and certainly not the one they showed on Facebook.
Yeah, I see Space Crusade was 1990, original Dreadnoughts (as shown on BoLS Facebook) were 1987. Not sure how they could even confuse the two versions, they look quite different from the legs up (the legs aren't really that similar, but at least somewhat).
On a side note, someone actually had a Space Crusade "Dreadnought" and some Androids at the GW store a couple weeks ago, plus a Rogue Trader era Land Raider. His son was using some of the original metal Harlequins (he claimed from the old box with, IIRC, 26 models in it). Was crazy nostalgic. (And then there was the whole line about how the models were older than half the people in the shop at the time.) If the guy ever sells his stuff, I'm going to jump all over it. Especially old Marine vehicles for Horus Heresy.

That model is hideous. The legs and torso don't go together at all.
Erik Setzer
01-09-2015, 02:59 PM
I wouldn't call it "hideous." I think they were trying to do a nostalgic callback to the Space Crusade model, while keeping part of the aesthetic of the Contemptors.

Perhaps they saw off his legs before fitting him in? it would be suitably grimdark and amusing.

Given the way the front juts out, I'd imagine the Marine is horizontal in this design.
Kirsten

the marine is often just a few organs, brain and nerves anyway, there doesn't have to be a body necessarily

01-10-2015, 01:48 PM
Oh dear god! Its bloody awful! Ugly desecration of all that is aesthetic.
It looks nothing like the deredeo at all.
To be honest its just another validation of the 6th/7th ed rule that if your dread isnt pure firepower built, its a waste of time having it.
Unless its in a drop pod obviously.
I miss the days of my dreads being able to have a balanced weapon payload and WALKING across the battlefield to engage the enemy.
Nah, now i must field a suicide drop unit, or a gun platform.
UGLY and boringly predictable. Yawn.....
