If you had a windfall of $400 (US) to spend on 40k/Forgeworld models, what would you buy?

I've got a solid 1,000 points of pre-Heresy Space Marines that I would like to fill out - perhaps with some Javelins or a lot more troops; or I could put a serious dent in the price of a Thunderhawk.

A few options:

• There are a couple of things I want for my Blood Angels that I've got to wait until next month for that I might jump on: a tac squad, a second storm raven, a vanguard veteran box or two. That's less than $400, but could be fun.
• I might go in for a big Forgeworld order. I've been wanting, for example, a second vindicator, but I thought it might be cool to have a Deimos-pattern vindicator rather than a modern one. Relatedly...
• Maybe - just maybe - I'd start Mechanicus. It would be really cool.

It would be tempting to start Necrons for me. Either that or a Legion, Fists or Night Lords (I kind of want that Haunter).

Definitely would have the next Cities of Death board up to the one I'm currently trying to afford. :)

I think there's a good chance I've got $400 worth of incomplete stuff sitting in the Closet of Shame, so I'm not adding to the pile.

But if I were to win a $400 GW gift certificate with a "use it or lose it" clause, I guess I'd get the 7E rulebook and Codices I've not bothered with. That'd be $200 of it. The rest toward a FW Superheavy for my Eldar.

I'd probably pick up a dozen reaver jetbikes, 4 boxes of scourges (because why shouldn't I have to get 4x what I need for one bit per box), my fourth wave serpent, and maybe some hornets, or an imperial knight.

I'd go for that cool Forge World project or army that you've always wanted, but could never justify starting because of the expense.

For me that would be a gargantuan Tyranid or two, or enough DKoK Grenadiers to field them as a Scions army.

Start getting a HH Night Lords army. At least get Konrad Curze and Sevetar when he comes out.

2 sicarans, one for my blood angels and one for my black legion. Or 2 spartans, same as above. Ora whole mess of hellblades and a fire raptor

I'd get some more Mk2 Crusade Armour guys for a planned World Eaters HH army. With $400 (USD) I'd be able to afford two of the combo deals Forgeworld has and then get some World Eater bits to go along with it.

Ill take the elfs and Tyranids off your hands for free! It would be a great burden but it shall help you get rid of some shame!

For me it would be a mass of Ork stuff from GW. Badrukk's Flash Gits, a Battlewagon, a Stompa and round out the balance with boxes of Boyz.

I´d probably get myself some new SciFi Marines from Mantic (http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/warpath/enforcers.html)for about 250$, 1 or 2 Dreadnaughts (http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/deadzone/vehicles/product/strider.html), some Drop Pods (http://www.miniaturescenery.com/ProductPage.asp?Code=BNKTL), some Rhinos (http://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=269), Razorbacks (http://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=271) and maybe a Storm Talon (http://puppetswar.eu/product.php?id_product=192).

But this is just a first thought. There are lots of good miniatures out there, which would fit in as well.

I'd go on eBay and buy as many Rogue Trader/2nd Edition Space Marines and their tanks, landspeeders, bikes and such as I could for $400....

I really want a big RT themed Space Marine army.....

Right now I am leaning towards snagging the new GW city tile 6 pack with case and Imperial Sector so would probably be that.

Like others I have too many un built models to want to invest in a new army yet. As is I started forcing myself to build and prime one formation/detachment at a time till I put a dent in my pile o infantry I have going on.

You know what? On second thought, it would definitely be Mechanicum. $50 to buy my FLGS-mate's Mechanicum (some of it of... dubious providence) and the rest of it directly to Forgeworld. 30k is picking up in my area, and the Mechancium models are so awesome...

Unfortunately, even $400 goes absolutely nowhere very quickly at GW's prices. Maybe get my "Night Lords" back on their feet with the new Codex and some Tacticals. Definitely gonna' need some pods. Oh, and a Titan or two, for Apoc / jerk insurance. I'd like some Raptors, but I'd have to put the money towards what I need before I can get what I want.

Typhon siege tank. Single best 420 points of SH available to chaos or marines.

I think I would buy a few bundles of 30k iron armor marines, the 30 man bundle and the death guard upgrades. Then some death shroud terminators

I dunno. The Spartan Assault Vehicle is pretty cool, too. It's a great combination of awesome vehicle and delivery system for the real strength of a Space Marine army - those power armored boots on the table!

It's hard being a Space Marine treadhead. I am beginning to acknowledge that that's what I am. Maybe the Blood Angels codex was a weird choice for me...

Probably Elysians, or heresy marines, or maybe a super heavy.

I'd save the money in a high yield mutual fund with the rest of my free-cash-flow currency and then buy $400 worth of GW stuff off of the interest generated.

More Solar Auxillia for me i think, really digging the look of the ones I have.

I've got four armies - well, in my family there are currently four armies. I play Standard Space Marines, my oldest son (14) plays Tyranids, my second son (12) plays Orks, my third son (10) plays Tau, and my fourth son desperately wants to play Imperial Guar... I mean, Astra Militarum, starting tomorrow, but he's only 5, so he doesn't get to play yet (sad face). I also have about 15 Space Wolves that I picked up from somewhere for a friend of son #3, just in case he wants to play too.

If we had an extra $400 to spend I would buy:
Wrath of the Hive Mind for Son #1 ($165)
Morkanaut/Gorkanaut for Son #2 ($105)
Riptide Battlesuit for Son #3 ($85)
and I dunno, A drop pod or Devastator squad for me ($37 or $35)

For a grand total of $392 or $390.

So, what do I win? :)

I think I'm closer to $4000 or more in incomplete stuff. That's the models that aren't assembled. It might even be higher. If you include older GW games (BFG, MOW, Mordheim, Necromunda, Warmaster, Epic), it goes a good bit higher.

(In my defense, my dad collected a lot of armies, and when he passed away two years ago, I inherited all the models that weren't destroyed in a fire.)

- - - Updated - - -

Friends are wanting me to get into 30K, so probably a chunk of the forces I'd need for that.

That is, the models that are available. (I'm going Iron Warriors, but I don't see any Cataphractii Terminators with cyclone missile launchers, much less a whole squad of them.)

With $400 I rather buy used models on ebay, and get twice as much models to play with. A NIB for three models like bikes is like $40-50!!

Sorry to hear about your dad mate. Still miss mine; we used to play DnD together pretty much every evening. Great times.

Hmm... with 400 dollars... I could definitely use some new models!

First I would get a pair of forgefiends and a pair of maulerfiends, followed by some obliterators, a second land-raider... a heldrake or two. About 60 cultists... noise marines... plague marines... *eyes bulge*

Gahhh, just thinking about all the things I would buy is making me go crazy!

With $400 USD, I'd get an Adeptus Astartes Strikeforce for my SM's, and a Battlewagon, 2 boxes of Boyz, a Painboy clam pack and a Mek clam pack for my Orks.

I've got close to $300 USD unbuilt currently...

Both Stormclaw and Deathstorm are unbuilt.

I also have a Bastion, Ork Battleforce (12 Boyz made), Ork Trukk, 2 Boxes of Ork Bikers (5 bikes), and an Ork Warboss unbuilt, which I got for a pittance. ($60)

I think I would buy a bunch of Space Marine bikes. I have been wanting to run a bike amy for a while, and I think it would be fun. Although I don't know if I would keep them as Vanilla Space Marines or do Dark Angels. Decisions, decisions.
