View Full Version : What would you like to see for the next boxed set?
Battle 1-2

Since GW has broken with the standard USD125 price point for their next boxed set, perhaps this means there is a great deal more flexibility in what can be included in the future. Also bearing in mind that they have finally stepped away from the "include 2 troops, an HQ, and something else" model. With those factors in mind, what combination of armies and units would you like to see?
I have included a few options based on the standard "Imperium vs. Other" model that has worked so well for GW so far, but if you don't like the options by all means suggest your own!

I've never seen a 2 troops, 1 HQ and something else model.
AoBR was 1 HQ, 1 Troop, 1 Elite and something else.
DV is 2 HQ, 1 Troop, 1 Elite and something else.
Stormclaw was 1 HQ, 1 Troop (2 for Wolves depending on how you built them), 1 Elite, and something else (although only for the Orks)
Deathstorm is 1 HQ, 2 Troops (DC Dread is a Troop) and something else.
The Imperium (well, SM) vs Other is a model they seem to use.
For Sisters vs X, I think it should be vs Chaos or Necrons (Massacre at Sanctuary 101!)
A possible list could be:
Sisters:
Canoness: Power Weapon, Combi-melta, Melta Bombs
10 Battle Sisters: Flamer, Heavy Flamer, Veteran Superior
5 Dominions: 4 Meltaguns, Melta Bombs
5 Retributors: 4 Heavy Bolters
Points: 450
They could use a box set to relaunch the Sisters of Battle, alongside plastics.

I forgot to include an option for "Other". Please feel free to post and describe your preferred "other."
What, in particular, would make a good Sisters of Battle vs Eldar boxed set?

I'm sure I'm just showing my ignorance, but I always looked at it as HQ, 2 Troops, + 1 or 2 other things. My justification for each boxed set was like this:
AOBR was 10 tac marines (potentially deployable as 2 troops in the form of tactical squads), 1 captain (HQ), 5 termies (Elite), and a Dread (another elite). Orks got a warboss (HQ), 5 nobz (Elite), 20 boyz (2 troops), and 3 deffcoptas (1 fast attack).
DV was 10 tac marines (2 troops), captain (HQ), termies (elite), bikes? (fast attack) vs approximately the same on the chaos side.
Stormclaw was 3 squads of 5 each (I have no idea how Space Puppies break down, but I it was 2 troops, 1 elites) and a commander, where the Orks had 1 troops, 1 HQ, 1 Elite, and 1 Heavy support.
I didn't realize that Blood angels could take Dreads as troops choices, so that would make the Imperium side 2 troops, 1 HQ, plus something (presumably elites) vs 2 troops (genestealers/Tyranid warriors) and a heavy support

Tactical Marinea had a requirement of 10 to take a heavy/special weapon. AoBR's book had it as the boyz being 1 squad.

This one can be 2 troops or 1 troop per side. The book has 1 troop for DA and 2 for Chaos.

DC Dreads are a troop choice if you take a unit of Death Company. That is their only troop dread.
I did make a few mistakes, which I apologize for.
Why did you chose Eldar as the opponent for SoB? Chaos or Necrons are much more fitting oppenents to face.
Necrons could be about Sanctuary 101, while Chaos could be a bunch of battles.

A Sisters box would be a lovely way to introduce new plastics.
Personally: Eldar, with a plastic Autarch character. ****, just do whatsherface from the last Dawn of War 2 expansion already.
There you go: Sisters vs. Eldar with a female autarch model. Release it as the Storm of Misandry campaign. I'd buy ten.

Grey Knights vs Chaos would be ideal. However, Sisters vs Necrons would work. Not sure about Eldar, since I dislike elves.

The chance of plastic Sisters is about the only thing that could get me to splurge on a box this expensive that's got anything in it that I'd need to try to sell.

Eldar vs Necrons :) Wave Serpent, Spiritseer, Guardians and Death Reapers (or whatever the ones with Missile launchers are called) for Eldar with Cryptek, Warriors, Destroyers and Ghost Ark for the Necrons. (Rough only as not got points costs to hand).

Why would the Eldar and the Necrons ever end up in conflict? The Eldar live on their craftworlds and the Necron are like, all about taking planets, aren't they? Or is there something in the storyline I don't know about?

1) Craftworld Eldar often get involved in conflicts to protect their planet-bound "exodite" kin.
2) Eldar and Necrons hate each other from waaaaay back.
3) Eldar frequently make decisions based on their farseers predictions, which can see them meddling in anyone's affairs.
4) Anyone can want to steal technology, dominate a part of space (not necessarily just its planets), or just screw with a rival.

Sisters against anyone would be great but if I had a fave choice it would be Necrons for a rematch.

Can I say None of the Above and vote for an Inquisitor or Deathwatch boxset stand alone skirmish game(same scale as tabletop game) with tiles that are compatible with Space Hulk, coinciding with a Hardback Codex release for Inquisition/Assassins or a digital release for Deathwatch.

Oooh, those are all EXCELLENT reasons! Any of them would make for an excellent novel, or even provide motivation for the Eldar to get involved in a major meta-tournament event like TauOnline used to do!
My hat is off to you, sir!

Gleipnir, do you have in mind basically a reworking of Space Hulk to represent room-to-room fighting by the Inquisition? With a chaos army on one side and Inquisition forces on the other?
I would totally consider buying that...

See? And you thought I was insane.... you call me insane? Have you seen the things I've seen?... Sorry; couldn't resist that slight Inquisitorial quote there.

So, with Necrons being next up on the list of codex refreshes, and rumors indicating that there might be Necrons in the next boxed set, is there any chance that the next boxed set will be Sisters vs. Necrons? How much of a chance? How many of you would buy it? (I would consider it, although I don't play either army currently)

If plastic Sisters appear in any boxed set I will buy 2+ of them... honestly don't care who the vs would be.

Basically I'd like to see something like Space Hulk in that it has models of a scale that could be used in 40K as well as in their standalone skirmish game. Use tiles that are compatible with the ones in Space Hulk to allow players to mix and match tiles from both sets, and provide a rule set for using models from the set in 40K if such rules don't already exist.
Example; Deathwatch Space Marines versus Genestealer Cultist using tiles of an Underhive or Sewers Complex, with rules for using your Deathwatch marine models in 40k and the Genestealer Cultists in 40k
another example; Inquisition with a plastic representation of Ecclesiarch Missionary, Warrior Acolytes, Death Cult Assassin and Inquisitor Warband(all models that could use a good plastic push fit remake versus Chaos Cultists and Mutants fought in the Streets of a Hive City again tiles compatible with those from Space Hulk

I voted for GK vs Daemons, because that would awesome.
I would have voted for Sister vs Necron, but not Sisters vs Eldar. Eldar do not need more product, despite Sisters needing as much product as they can get!

That's why I haven't voted. I can't think of what in the Imperium they would release after Necrons that they could combo-box with. Sisters would be the best bet, but a rumor places them at least 18 months after that at best. IG haven't been in a box at all. Codex Marines could work, I suppose, since the other boxes are Angels or Wolves with an Enemy. And aside from Dark Angels, is the oldest Imperium book codex now.

Something more like Warhammer Quest would be my preference, I always felt Quest was superior for replay value over Space Hulk. Plus you could do a stock inquisitor with retinue, including a death watch marine, with demon and grey knight expansions. Or genestealer cult and sisters.
