Hi there first time on here, thought i would post a thread of my W.I.P Phantom that i have been working on for the last 5 months. This project started life with molds of an ancient armor cast model and has been so heavily modified only small fragments of the original model are still visible. I am building a gallery just for this project in my photo-bucket account so that all the images can be viewed as there are close too 200 images of the construction process. this model still needs some finishing touches on it but so far its looking pretty impressive but unfortunately is a tiny bit taller than the armor cast model. I felt that i had to try and do this awesome model some justice by making it a new updated version to run along side the FG Revenents, and with my limited modeling skills i believe i have achieved the goal that i originally set out to do

Thanks
for looking

C&C is more than welcome as i have a few odd`s and end`s to finish off with this model

i still have to cast the hip jest nozzles and the 4 remaining leg engines and nozzles for them and another shoulder guard then its just modify the armor cast weapons to fit and i think shorten the weapon arm by about 1 inch ish as well as make the wing mounted missile launcher

Really impressive project, one thing tho, I'd use something else instead of photobucket. Flickr maybe?

Any reasons why Flickr is better???

Looks cool (and big!).

I think you're right about shortening the gun arm, and I think the gun and the eyes need to be pointed more in same direction, it doesn't seem quite right the way it is. Some fancy work to the joins in the gun arm to match the power fist would look nice. I'd maybe also make the eyes shaped more like the FW version (less of a block visor, more ancient greek helmet) and even elongate the head. It seems rather blockish next to the FW one, especially with the even larger wings.

Photobucket has this strange habit of parsing the image url as both image and webpage-containing-the-image, depending on his detection, if it guesses that the url is embedded in a html document then it shows the image, otherwise the page, that detection is quite faulty and creates plenty of headaches.

Flickr is a better service imho, and also allows for nice comments targeted at a particular part of the image.

Technicalities aside, what are you using as reference?

OK Madness will have a look into Flickr then, I think i only opened a Photo Bucket account because all the people i knew with accounts were raving about it as a photo sharing site at the time

Reference for the titan, i have used the old armorcast model and just redesigned areas to be more like the Forge world Revenant,i felt the old armorcast model was too static and out dated. as well as wanting to bring it into line with the current Eldar look.

All the things you have mentioned are the things i am working on at the moment, I am currently shaping a ball joint for the power fist to fit a lot better, also I am trying to shorten the weapons arm. The joint between the arm and weapon is just a quick match up i am hoping to make ball sockets on the side of the guns so the weapons are more level. With regards to the head and its eyes I am struggling to work on the eyes i really want to do the proper Greek style face, Its just proving a little more difficult than first thought. I really think i messed up there by doing the face plate first, but i will crack it even if i have to cast a new head lol

I am actually looking into re sculpting the weapons too as at first i just wanted to mount the Armorcast ones but i think that some of them are too big to look right on the model now. The D cannon looks fine on it, all i need to do is update the look a little with new Armour plating.

Researched some eldar titans stuff, turns out your creation is a free interpretation, usually I'd frown upon such heretical things, but you are following the new design of titans/war walkers (hooves for instance) and creating quite an awesome product.

I apologize if it took me so long to compliment on it, but I'm hard to win over. :)

Can't wait to see the finished/primed version to comment further. But I trust it will astound me.

Thanks

Yeah its a complete fabrication of a design to bring it into line with the current forge world and games workshop models

Dammit, forgot to ask in the last post. Did you produce any reference sketch of your desired result?

Because as a sculpting-inept I can't see how you can do it without one.

Been working on the weapons systems for the last few days now. I finally have what i wanted to achieve in model putty using one main weapons body and having interchangeable plates for either side of it so i only have to make one main body, and one Armour plate for the left one for the right and one plate for the arm mount either side.
