Man I am excite for this! So excite I feel it requires it's own thread.

I look forward to the spoilers since I don't have cable and Disney XD has been really good at keeping me from watching Gravity Falls so far :)
I've got Legend of Korra: Book 4 premiering tomorrow so I share your excitement!

Seen the first episode (legally). It's really good, like much better than TCW premiere good. Ezra wasn't half as annoying or 'plucky brat with heart of gold' as I was expecting, Sabine and Hera were both awesome, Zeb the not-wookie was also not what I was expecting. Kanan was a little bland so far but whatevs.

Star Wars remains the only toy line to have really figured out 'the fans? They'll buy buy buy, no matter how obscure a character is. Hell, they'll buy it because it's obscure!'.

I see no reason for Rebels not to follow suit. Especially building up to Episode VII (which I still do my best to avoid rumours and alleged spoilers about plot. Set photos though, not so much!)

Yup, and the trouble with the original trilogy is that there were literally like three women in the entire galaxy so 99.9% of the action figures are men.

I expect we will see them though I agree, TCW made them realise that wimmins love them some Star Wars and buy all the things as well. Looking forward to the 3.75" range more though because they are releasing a bunch of in scale ships and vehicles including the Ghost (rumoujred).

They'd be mad not to release it. Star Wars fans are probably the most demanding when it comes to merchandise. We don't just want lots of it, but we want it authentic.

POTF2 included some oddities, like Han Solo and his 'smuggling backpack' - which involved MASSIVE LASER CANNONS.... Yeah, that didn't go down well, so we didn't see that again.

Instead, we get setting fitting stuff, and not in bizarrely neon purple plastic like many other ranges. It all fits, and it's all good!

Just watched it with the eldest nipper, it's great indoctrinating her in all things Star Wars. We both loved it.
Chopper didn't get as much air time as we would have liked. But I'm sure he will get his time to shine. Zebs our favorite.

And I'm glad they didn't depart from the Clone Wars look. Helps keep things feeling like a single cohesive background.

The ATST was shown in the original theatrical release. It was a single model used running along side the ATATs. They added more in the special ed.

The ATPT in the new cartoon is not the same design used in the later books. They're recycling the name, but they are using the old McQuarrie ST design from the 70s that was only used in the marvel comics previously.

I'm currently blitzing through Clone Wars and thoroughly enjoying it, so I'll check this out when I'm done with that. In the interim, I have three questions:

1) Is it as good as or better than Clone Wars?

2) Is there any mention at all of Ahsoka Tano's fate yet?

3) Please for the love of God tell me Cad Bane is in it.

1) So far it's startin better than Clone Wars started, but Clone Wars got really great. It's certainly not at the level TCW finished at but it's relly good and the last episode in particular was really good.

Star Wars Rebs feels more light hearted than TCW but then again it only just started. I hope we get more mature stuff like underworld etc. Those episodes were my favorite in TCW.

The latest episode is not so light hearted, really creepy and morbid at one point, not to the level TCW got to towards the end but certainly balancing the very light hearted peisode before it.:)

Yeah, I'm coming up for midway through Season 5 of TCW and it's getting pretty dark at times. However, I love the portrayal of the Clone Troopers - they remind me of my beloved Guardsmen - and Anakin's steady descent is so much better done.

Plus with side-antagonists like Hondo and Cad Bane, the series is damn entertaining!

I watched Episodes I-II with my mother, then Clone Wars, then Episode III and she blubbed during Order 66, it really does make Anakins fall and the whole thing much more tragic and terrible.:) Also did it with aunts and ickle cousins with similar effect.

Hondo, Cad Bane, Aurra Sing, Bo Katan Kryze, hell even Sy Snootles being badass femme fatale and murderer, TCW had a lot of fantastic antagonists. Oh and Asajj Ventres of course who is totes the best. Also voice by the same actress who does Sy Snootles which is a big wtf.

How could I forget Assaj? Love her vengeance storyline, she's bad*ss.

Order 66 would be a lot sadder at the end of Clone Wars where, y'know, the people dying actually have characters, names and personalities you like. I like Luminara, even if she is the epitome of the cold Jedi style.

Anakin's downfall is so tragic in this because it shows how he just gets attached way too easily and lashes out when people he cares about are threatened. I like the parts where you start to see how realistic it is that he could become so embittered with the world to become Darth Vader.

I could write forever on things I love about that show. I'll check Rebels out once I've finished with TCW, it should be a few more episodes in by that point.

If you like Luminara you will love the Rebels episode Rise of the Old Masters.;)

Asajj is the best, and she also got the whole 'evil character becomes somewhat redeemed anti-hero' story arc which almost ALWAYS goes to a male character.

Yep Order 66 is so much sadder after watching TCW, especially for someone who hadn't seen the films before (like my mother and aunts and some of the ickle ones). Almost sways me from my loyalty to the Empire.:p Only almost.

There are rmours Lupita Nyong'o will be playing Asajj in Episode VII, I expect it isn't true but it would be awesome if it were.

It would be good to see more Asajj in Rebels, working as a bounty hunter and maybe not overly fond of the Empire. also Ahsoka of course.

Out of Darkness is great, it was my most anticiopated episode to date and it didn't disappoint. Empire Day is pretty great also.:)

Oh and quite a bit of the Rebels toy range is available in the UK now, vehicles and figures. Tesco had a deal on buying multiple vehicles not sure if that is still on or not.

Yup. Sabine is out this month, no idea when. UK seems to get them in earlier than the US though so yay. also lol. Hera probably next month. also Hasbro have said 2015 will see a very large vehicle released which a lot of people believe will be the Ghost given the ickle Phantom shuttle has clips to clip onto something larger.

If you can get to a Disney Store (or online heh) they have the Reveal the Jedi packs that have Ezra Kanan and a 'mystery figure' for about sixteen pounds or something, its a good pack. But you can also get vehicle packs with a figure packed in, I think Kanan comes with the Phantom kit so if you can find one of them probably worth getting it and Ezra separately.

I've seen the second half of the season break episode - very cool.

Ezra in particular is starting to move away from 'gutter oik' with some interesting character development. Indeed, the same is true of all the characters.

For me, it's perhaps not as instantly accessible as Clone Wars, but then given Clone Wars involved already established characters (and Asohka, who remains cool) that's perhaps not surprising.

Really, really enjoying the whole 'we don't know where this goes for the characters' experience. Not had that since I first watched Empire Strikes Back way, way back when I was a tiny little Nipper!

Yep I mean with Clone Wars you basically knew what was going to happen to all the peeps except Ahsoka. But with Rebels we have no idea. For all we know they could go totes grimdark and kill them all off over the course of the last season or something. Hopefully not though. Hera, Sabine and Chopper need to survive.:p

Hasbruh seem to having supply issues with the Rebels toys, a lot of sotres in the US aren't getting them at all and supplies elsewhere seem sporadic and there have been big delayed, the Sabine wave was supposed to be out in December and Hera January.

New episode of Rebels is avialable, watched it last night and it is AMAZE. Appearance from another original trilogy character, not with original voice on account of being ded. Won't spoil it, let's just say the name rhymes with Bland Toff Snarkin. Also the fan was hit by the fecal matter.

I just meant by today's standards, I certainly have no problems with it at all. Even picked up the Sabine for myself last week. I don't play with anything, just display, so the minimalist in me is happy.

The lack of articulation in the basic figure range is a source of great discontent amongst collectors who, not happy with having the Black Series collector range and a whole new 6" Black Series collectors range, also want the cheaper line to have the same level of articulation as the collectors range and the same level of paint quality but at a lower price. The fact this isn't happening is a sign that Hasbro is dying, Star Wars action figures are on the way out and at some point Disney is going to swoop in and buy Hasbro to save their merchandise. Hasbro is committing the cardinal sin of neglecting Star Wars for Transformers while also neglecting Transformers for Star Wars, the cunning barstuds. As we all know they will also purchase Games Workshop, being the unstoppable toy behemoth that they are.

I spent some time lurking on various toy forums, it was illuminating and hilarious.

Nope, TF collectors seem pretty obnoxious and never happy with anything and with weird obsessions about nonsense things like parts being hollow and magically being able to tell the quality of plastic from terrible grainy photos and things either looking too much like they did in the 80s or not enough and all kinds of nonsense.

Well what Hasbro did a while ago is hav the Vintage Collection, which was modern super-articulated figures in vintage style packaging which was pretty but also not exactly eye catching for the kiddies in my opinion, being black with photos on. I really like the new Rebels packaging actually, it's bright, it says Star Wars at a distance and the quality of the figures have been nice also. Those from the show anyway, some of the general figures released after the rebranding like Darth Sidious were hilariously terrible.

I think the new package for rebels all around is great. The bright colors make it distinct from any other star wars products and so you know it's the new waves, even if there are older figures in them, and the pictures of the figures on the sides help when searching through pegs.

But then again, having to search through no more than 12 figures is nothing like as a kid having to search through a 4ft x 4ft wall of pegs full of figures to find the 1x royal guard you need to make 6.

Oh I forgot I got my Sabine action figure, she's WONDERFUL. The sculpt is perfect it really captured her likenes and personality, the paint applications are simplified from her appearance in the show but still quality and perfect and it's jsuit wonderful. I hope they do a Black Series super articulated version preferavly in 6" scale. Wish her helmet came off but that isn't a big deal.

The idea being that, people would assume Kanan was the leader, and in Hera’s world it was easier to just let people assume Kanan was in charge. It was another layer of secrecy to just let her be in charge and let Kanan be the field general, while she’s the brains. She has flaws, and there are definitely things that bother her. Her character isn’t so straightforward, as we find out in Season Two. But she’s the best at putting these things aside, because she understands the greater good is to service the cause of the rebel movement. She probably is the strongest with the strongest will.

Would Asohka even know who Vader really is? I mean, I'm guessing once in each other's presence the Force will make it clear...but for now, he's just Darth Vader to her, surely?

Hard to say. If Obi Wan knows already then possibly she knows, I suspect there is contact between them. Obi Wan obviously finds out at some point prior to A New Hope. It could be Ahsoka finds out in Rebels and tells Obi Wan. Or Yoda may have sensed it and informed both of them through the Force who knows. I think it would be nifty if everyone assumes she doesn't know, and then in their confrontation there is a moment mirroring the reveal to Luke on Cloud City:
'Obi Wan nver told you what happened to your master'
'He told me enough, he told me you killed him'
No, snips, I am your master'
'No. Not since you turned on everything you used to hold dear etc.;

Obi-Wan knows from kicking him into the lava on Mustafar that Anakin became Vader.

I'm genuinely interested to see if Asohka knows Obi-wan and Yoda survived. Could be a very cool plot device for the future.

Does he though? He left Anakin for dead and I don't think Anakin referred to himself as Darth Vader in front of Obi Wan. If he does know then I suspect Ahsoka knows as he would have told Bail Organa and he would have told Ahsoka.

I'm fairly sure Obi-wan would be able to work it out for himself. He did de-limb Anakin, and then watch him burn.

See, this is why Rebels has me excite (and the new trilogy too!) - we just don't know.

Between the pair of us we're pretty familiar with the events either side of Rebels, and even we're going 'actually, yes...but....what if....hmm' about it.

I'm mostly interested to see whether Asohka will join the dark side - she was kind of arguably half-way there toward the end of Rebels...

I got as far as a politician being dead. then he wasn't dead, and there was a load of episodes with him back and nobody questions zombie senator. apparently it is not in chronological order, but it gives no indication of that, no flashback, plot device or anything to say 'hey, this is a month ago'. having one episode cut back chronologically to build up the plot is fine, but having a load of episodes suddenly out of sequence with no explanation is just bad storytelling.
