Later this year i am going to compete in my first 2000 point tournament. For this i'm going to build a 2000 point army of the Adeptus Mechanicus using codex;tau and Codex;necrons for the force. The army list is currently being re-written and modified continuously until i'm satisfied.

Currently however i know will need several models regardless, such as two riptides, a commander and at least 3 battlesuit models. For this I turn to Forgeworld Horus Heresy line.

Initial model; Magos Dominus with twin linked plasmarifle. Here is the current WIP;

As you can see i've got a fair amount of work left to do even before i add the weapons. The next two models are earlier in the painting phase. They certainly need to be brought into the grimdark to match the first marine, while the top magos need to brought to the same dust.

Think the Thanatar is going pretty well. The next model is a tester for a future plan and being used for my infantry in this force.

I've got a lot of work cut out for me to try and finish this army in the next month. Oh well....

Good stuff, mate! Love the look on the models, and I'm particularly fond of the big guy's left shoulder pad.

I've got my Arch Magos sitting on my painting table with a couple parts painted and 10 Thralls (Bought before the price drop! >:( ) are primed and ready to go! I'm excited to see how your army goes, and I'll no doubt include my own.

But that Thanatar is the whole reason I got into this army, I absolutely love that model and I think yours is simply excellent! Really gets me truly inspired to start painting, so off I go!

Remember that mechanicus army i finished? well.... I never actually got around to the photo. Bar one model it's time for that to happen, so here's my finished army. I'm now ready for the new releases and set to expand my empire of the machine spirit.

Had to dig up your thread Skrall to ask you about your construction of the Thanatar's. Are there any specific steps you took to brace the body and leg assemblies? Because this thing seems like it's going to be real top heavy and glue isn't quite going to be enough to hold them up.

Really fine work on them, yours is among the 3 pages I've been referencing for my build.

Time for a new model, my first Knight for my army (one of between three and five).

The scheme a variation of forgeworlds house patterns but not the same. As my mechaicum/mechanicus force is expanding, growing and evolving I have yet to craft a lore to fit, and thus no house name has been chosen yet. However the early scheme is done, giving me a nice base from which to work. Lots still to do though, particularly with the metals;

if you haven't named it yet, then I put a vote in for Knight Trogdor.
