I am working on a few IG vehicles right now. I have to admit I am low on funds and love fiddling, so I am making as many parts interchangeable as possible so the models can play different roles from game to game.

Currently I am building a new hellhound, a new old model hellhound, and rebuilding a chimera and 3rd ed leman russ demolisher. The later 2 I bought used and they were teribly assembled. I didn't get before pics because I just tore them apart it was so bad. the chimera had one side shifted up about 1/4 inch and the other side forward an 1/8th inch, along with many smaller problems. the LR wasn't terible at first glance but then I noticed crooked things and the sponsons were messed up. one sponson had 2 tops and the other had 2 bottoms, both were 1/4 inch too far forward on the model. the demolisher cannon was crooked and covered in excess glue as well.

The new model hellhound I have most of the way built and it is past the point of ludicrous modularity so it only has replaceable main cannon and hull cannon parts. the old model hellhound I am having more fun with. the whole top comes off leaving just the chimera chassis with an open back. I have made a plasticard conversion for a manticore or hydra turret and am going to make a griffon or medusa back as well. the hellhound only turret didn't satisfy me either so I am making a greenstuff based insert to hold the newer cannon tips.

The leman russ I have completely stripped down to the base hull and turret and am magnetizing the crap out of it. I have made an annihilator cannon and power cell for it as well. I am hoping to get a new leman russ soon and making all the new parts fit to this one as well. I am not so hopeful for my parts on the new one though.

The chimera is in a pile on my floor as I try to clean glue and seams off of it. the main body is so warped I can not fit the edges in the channels of the sides, and there is too much glue to cut the body apart. as soon as I have the money for new chimeras I am turning this into terrain but even then it will probably look crappy.

Just to top off my magnetic fun I magnetized ALL the turret hatches so I can move them all around for the hell of it.

I also have characters I am making or have made. completed I have Harker, cyclops controller/master of ordinance. I want to make pretty much every other unique character in the codex but in my own way.

Sorry for such a large post I will make smaller ones from here on out I hope. here are some pics of my progress.

Here is the location of all the pics I have

I wish I had found this tutorial before. I spent forever looking for a tutorial and never found one until after I had done my own way. Akkon Sek posted this one http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/showthread.php?t=4679 which sounds awesome. I drilled holes and cut off bits of thin wire into them and superglued them in. I don't know how well it will look after it is primed. here is is now though.

you can also see my crappy greenstuff barrel I am making. I have a long ways to go to match the greenstuff wizardry I have seen done here.

I think your rivets turned out well. Must've taken quite some time.

Bet they're damn sharp though.

Your Manticore turret work (plasticard) is great. Looking forward to seeing that completed.

Thanks. Yeah, they have a bit of a point to them. I am going to try to lightly file the edges down without tearing them free from the glue.

Lots going on there! lol

Hydra Turret looks good.

Thanks.

Anyone have any suggestions on cheap manticore rockets? the valk missiles cost even a bit much for me. I am looking for somthing in the $4 range for all four.

I don't know about the $4 price range, but 1:48 modern aircraft weapon sets are a fantastic resource for all sorts of cool looking missiles, fuel tanks, target drogues, etc. Lots of possibilities.

Either steal them from 1:48 aircraft kits or buy a dedicated set of missiles/bombs only. I know Testors makes several.

I have cut down Bic pens and built fins from plasticard for things in the past, you might try that. You could even try some thicker body pens to give the missiles more size.

How could I forget Hasegawa?!

Been building pew pew spacemen so long now, I've forgotten the real world stuff. Stupid Boy Barbie obsession.

*points up* Use Aldramelech's suggestion. Hasegawa is top notch. Lots of sets to choose from.

I will have to keep my eye on those sets. In the mean time i think I will be scratch building some missiles.

gotta do some studying today but I am hoping to start painting my newer hellhound so I can finish assembling the back.

Here is my hellhound as it sits now. I have never painted a vehicle before so I am going a little slow to make sure I like what I am doing. I am pleased so far though.

I need a question answered please. Would it be wrong to put this scroll on an imperial gaurd comander? http://www.underthecouch.net/shop/images/scrollcasecrux.jpg

I have A.D.D. or something. Today I sat down to do my homework, which isn't due for a while anyway, and then all of a sudden I was trying to find stuff around my room to make manticore missiles. I found a decent tube and cut the first section. Next thing I know I have my 2nd hand HWS in my hands and I have started pulling the figures off the bases so I could fix the imperfections. I got one guy glued back on with no arms still, and now I have a steel legion vox and most of knight commander pask. I also wrote a 750 point list to go against my friends' tyranid and CSM armies. There are also a handful of casting defects that I repaired in my other SL troops.

Anyway I am hoping to get my manticore riveted and loaded with missiles in a day or 2 but with the way today went I have no idea when it will be done. The hydra has taken a back seat for the time being.

No problems putting the scrolls on you commander if you want to. Making your army unique is part of the hobby, as long as you meet WYSIWYG anything ellse you dois fine. And I know how you feel, I have started working on a Leman Russ and wound up with a new unit of Empire Milita built up. BTW I don't play Empire in fantasy.

Cool. Just wanted to heck if the scrolls are inquisition and marines only. I have never seen IG holding them before.
