No, not Scottish Independence this time. But a changing of the guard at GW.

Tom Kirby, as per the annual report, is stepping down as CEO.

And a job advert has gone live, inviting it would seem literally anyone to apply for the job.

So what does this mean for us, the community?

Well, first and foremost, anyone who fancies chancing their hand could apply for the top job in GW, which sounds like a laugh.

But secondly? If you have anything you wish GW would do differently, regardless of what it is, now would be the best time to start writing in. No, not posting anonymously on the interwebs, but actually writing coherent wish lists to GW.

It seems likely any new CEO would want to stamp their mark on the company, and part of that could be greater interaction with the wider community. Up to the present, any such attempts have been drowned by bile from a vocal minority hurling abuse via official channels - and as a family friendly company, it's kind of understandable why GW ceased those forms of communication.

Right now however, who knows? I can guarantee that anonymous requests online, regardless of how eloquent and well put will achieve nothing - the internet is famed for a pretty poor noise/signal ratio on pretty much all things. But, a letter written and posted to GW, even an email to them? That's a different kettle of fish.

Not guaranteeing anything would change, but it never hurts to ask in a polite manner :)
