Hi, everybody, I haven't gotten the new Space Wolves Codex yet, and I'm wondering if their new Dreadnoughts can take Drop Pods? That sounds like a really cool thing to do, especially dropping in a couple of those Axe/Shield versions (assuming those are basically storm shields?).

Yes they can. Even Bjorn can now take a pod for some 'in your opponents face' fun... not that they tend to last that long when they pod in but it can still be a lot of fun regardless! :)

Drop pods are really the only way to run Dreadnoughts. The issue with the shield Dreads, though, is they will spend most of the game standing around looking scary. With no guns and a 6" move, and no invuln on side or rear armor, I think they'll have a lot of issues in practice no matter how good they look on paper.

there is a formation that has Bjorn, and 2 venerable dreads that all get a 5+ inv save. So you run a standard ranged weapon & CCW option on all 3. Then drop in Murderfang for some hoots.
