Hey guys, we’re here to share our brand new project with you. We’ve set up Pocket General to create and provide 6mm wargaming supplies such that you can play any tabletop wargame without the issue of space that plagues larger scale games.
The long story behind Pocket General is that we found ourselves with increasingly small amounts of time and space to play wargames after moving to university. On the few occasions we would meet up, coming up with a large amount of table or floor space was challenging. We came to the conclusion that a smaller or ‘pocket’ version of wargames would be the best solution, it was here we stumbled across the concept of ‘Pocket 40k’ ( these guys have done some great work worth checking out if you haven’t already). If we were making it for ourselves, why not allow everyone else to join in as well - particularly since we were sure that we were not the only ones to have run into this particular problem.
Pocket General does not set out to replace other wargames, as there is little that can compare to the satisfaction of a game with your beautifully painted tabletop force, but when this is not possible, or when you want to playtest a list as quickly and easily as possible, maybe just squeeze in a game against a friend where it would not have been possible before? - Pocket General provides the perfect solution. We feel that 6mm gaming provides an excellent way to get a friend into your favourite wargame, as there is a much smaller investment necessary to get involved with the hobby
So far, we have the prototype of the various accessories and packaging that Pocket General will comprise of. As you can see, the box is very compact and a lot more convenient than the conventional mass of components required for tabletop wargames. Inside, separate boxes house the magnetised army, gameboard, markers and terrain to ensure you have to hand everything you could need for a game. Check out the pictures below to get an idea of what we’re talking about, and stay tuned for more updates.
To make this project a reality we need funding, so if what you’ve read so far interests you check out our website, or our soon-to-be-launched Kickstarter campaign. We’re also available on Facebook (www.facebook.com/pocketgeneral), twitter (http://www.twitter.com/pocket_general) or via email ([email protected]) if you want to contact us outside of this forum. Even if this doesn’t interest you, we’d love to hear your feedback; be it positive, negative or if you just like to post replies please let us know what you think, we’d really appreciate it!

Don’t forget that these are the first prototypes we’ve made so they’re a little rough around the edges in places, but we will strive to improve our prototypes until we are satisfied with their quality. Stay tuned for more prototype pictures and general updates with the project.
