Yeah that's a Volkite weapon of some sort on the turret. I'm loving those battle robot things in the first picture.

Yes.

What's that? No, shut up wallet.

Pintle mounted Graviton Gun on that side too.

Wonder if the pintle thing above the Volkite is more dakka, or perhaps some shield strengthening doodad??

Well quite so!

Reckon that'll be a popular kit as it is, just for the Mechanicum stylings for the plakky Knights.

Kirsten
09-06-2014, 12:10 PM
on that second pic of the two knights, what is the one facing away armed with I wonder? it isn't the volkite cannon

Mr Mystery
09-06-2014, 12:12 PM
Just what I was thinking....

Not sure I've come across a photo of that one yet. Though having said that, seems to be the following on...

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Images/FW/HomeRotatingBanners/magaera-bnr-eu.jpg

Appears from that photo, and the top one on my previous post showing the Volknight, to be armed with a Krios Lightning Cannon?

Kirsten
09-06-2014, 12:13 PM
aah yes, that one. so the volkite arm is a new one again on top of the two already teased, that red one and the green

I really hope that I'm not the only one sick of seeing the never-ending line of 30k (a game nobody plays) minis and knights coming out of FW. Seems that FW promised that 30k wouldn't cause a delay or slow down in their existing production lines.

Well, that stuff does sell, as this (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/News/July_2014_Top_10.html) or this (http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/News/May_2014_Top_10.html) could indicate.

Bad for those more into other armies, but FW found a gold vein with something most 40k fans wanted for a long time.
Personally, I'm waiting for the Alpha Legion stuff, that should be quite close...

Just because you don't play it and apparently nobody plays it near you, does not mean that nobody plays 30k. My local games club have quite a large 30k league going on currently.

The Heresy kind of stands on it's own as something more innovative than the "current" 40k universe, which seems more derivative of other things (I dont see anything bad/wrong with this though!) and so may look less interesting for some people.

I myself definitely prefer the Heresy as a setting, I find the technology of the imperium is more appealing and looks a lot better and as I dislike humanoid/bug aliens, there is a lot less of that in the Heresy setting. I could also see how it might appeal to Chaos players that favour specific legions sinde FW actually does unique units, upgrade packs and has made the effort to differntiate them both visualy and rules-wise.

As for the models themselves, I really dig the Mechanicum stuff, the HQ's look really weird. I much prefer the cables dragging along the ground to legs, makes them creepier and weirder imo.

Hmm, interesting, looks like the Solar Auxillia could be following a more British style of organisation- they refer to the flamer unit as a Section. I wonder if they will have Corporals leading squads.

Well, as someone that has dropped 40k in favor of 30k...I don't see a problem. A majority of FW releases were all ready Marine focused. And pretty much everything 30k can be used in 40k (either as a relic unit or added bits).

That promise was also made when they thought they were only going to do 6 books...

Seconded! I heard that it was on sale with rules available. Quit with the knights and show us some real mechs!

That said, I am very, very excited to see a Leman Russ with a Volkite main weapon. I think that'll be a purchase on release, and that presumably superheavy tank looks pretty intriguing!

Kirsten
09-08-2014, 05:41 AM
yeah, supposed to be on sale, but no pics?

I think the large tank is a transport rather than a super heavy personally, but I may be wrong.

DWest
09-08-2014, 05:46 AM
It's a Malchador hull, the "light" superheavy of the IG, but then again the Spartan (a regular tank) is built on the hull of the Typhon (a super-heavy), so it could go either way.

I was thieving the pics off a 30k Facebook feed, who got them from a 30k specific blog, so unlikely to be pics of fitlhy future Xenos rustbuckets :p

I have however double checked, and am unable to dig anything up.

I find your lack of Battlesuits disappointing. They've been teasing this baby for months, and man does it look pretty.

Someone on ATT has bought it and is currently assembling it, but was scared to post pics in case of copyright. The Ethereals arrived and...convinced him, so hopefully he will be more forthcoming with pics I can post on here.

All for the Greater Good, of course.

As far as I'm aware, the imperial army is slated for release in book IV.
Whether it actually is in the book or not, we'll have to wait and see.

Can we call it the Frogger suit?

The speculation about it being an FMC is interesting, and a very unique thing to bring to Tau. I think with Jetpacks that size, it kinda earns it!
