I just LOVE great knarloks, but i didnt want to pay FW and wait a month, so I made it. Its name is Lily, and its the "horsie" of my D&D (Darksun) PCs. Isn`t it cute? Its like a bald chick! ^^

(sorry for the blurry pics)

Really nice job with the sculpting. I'd repaint the leather tho, as it is too natural right now.

Dunno, the contrast between the painted mini and the realistic looking leather is somewhat disturbing. Did you undercoat it before painting it?

I really like the realistic look to the leather. The cool thing about this Knarloc is that is looks somewhat less Cartooish than the standard one.. Or maybe it looks more so.... Either way its just damned sweet and a fantastic bit of work :)

can you talk a bit about the process?

yup, i made a pair of balls of resin on a mould of plasticine, and then, sanded it till it got some king of figure. Then covered it with green stuff and sculpted it ^^

I think the problem is more that it also doesn't conform to the body like a real harness would, so it looks a little unnatural standing up across the top (a bit of a toyish quality). The texture itself is fine - and would make a good template for a stamp or something to texture a greenstuff harness.

Also - I'm not sure about the seams along the body and at the arms, they work to give definition but are a little too sharp to seem natural.

That said I'm being picky and it's an excellent sculpt with a very good sense of dynamism, balance, and the strength of the beast, much much more so than is present in the FW ones.
