Gallery Upgrade (Poll)

So I've noticed that all you dedicated painters, converters and the like are really making a home here in the Lounge.

I am thinking off adding a big fancy gallery plugin into vbulletin and wanted to get your thoughts on it.

It is basically a fancy gallery with full search funtionality, and the ability to add tags, sort by author, etc... It will also allow me to place a strip of recent and popular images on the Lounge mainpage to draw people into looking at our contributor's (you guys) best stuff.

So would such an upgrade be welcome and would you all use it?

Personally, I think a more useful feature would be allowing more than 4 pictures per post - it leads to the modeling threads becoming bloated unneccessarily IMO.

Possibly somewhat related...

I've noted a steady degradation in forum performance over the past two weeks. I make my living through a decent understanding of the complex rope-and-pulley system that is teh interwebz, so I am absolutely aware it could be me. I'd hope not though as I have a (theoretical) 21Mb drop.

Will such a gallery affect the overall throughput of the forums?

Hate to be the one to say ney, but personally, and it is a personal vote for I accept some people will, I'd not use it. While it sounds a great idea in theory if many of the other forums are anything to go by galleries are under used, better and easier in general to host pictures elsewhere and maintain project logs/blogs IMHO. The only exception to this is for something like coolminiornot.com, but they've already got that idea pretty well covered.

I visit the 40k Modeling/Painting section more than any other on BoLS so a big +1 to yes.

My primary hope is that it is easily navigable and catagorized. (and add a section for Winter Themed IG so I can stop endless trolling google image for ideas...)
