What are other peoples thoughts on the Blue Scribes of Chaos Daemons?

The FAQ has made them an auto casting psyker without needing any dice or any warp charge points. Stick em in with screamers and roll up on daemonology, you have a great chance of summoning something awesome on a D6 for minimal cost, with no perils risk. Why haven't I seen anyone laughing their t*ts off about this yet, am I reading and playing it wrong (it wouldn't be the first time!)?

I have been trying to think of a cool way to use my bits to make a Blue Scribes, as it does seem like a fun unit to use. The problem is the Scribes are not an IC, just a jetbike character. So they are very vulnerable unless hidden, which makes their psychic helping hand iffy at best since it's tough to position the model safely, which is also pretty random (though Fateweaver could help them reroll the power result).

Of course Malefic Daemonology is the go-to discipline for Blue Scribes, but possibly getting Invisibility or Endurance, that would be pretty darn amazing.

I think it's one of those fun test units I'd keep in Reserves, speeding in from the edge or deepstriking off an Icon only, and just see what happens. Probably not a gamebreaker but worth using for fluffy-ness :)

Ah- I had totally overlooked them not having the IC rule!

That limits them considerably at T4 2 wounds is easily done unless you have some substantial LOS blocking or the ability to get them up to a 2+ super cover save (aegis or similar)

You what else sucks is they are not in the list of Heralds that can be taken 4-in-1 slot either, along with the Masque (who is utterly shamefully worthless!). So I think the most fun army to run with the Scribes would be with 4 Disc Heralds, 3 Screamer units, 1 Flamer unit, and Horrors, possibly with Icons, Instruments, and Burning Chariots to come in off those Icons. All small fry guys with an arseload of Warp Charges with which to summon Daemons of Khorne and/or Slaanesh! With each Herald in a different unit, they can cast the same power multiple times.

Disc Herald x 4
Blue Scribes
11 Horrors/Icon/instrument x 2
9 Screamers x 3
9 Flamers
Burning Chariot

That's a little scary. I would love to see that on the table, just not across from my army :)

The Masque

the Masque is not useless not by a long shot she is powerful if used correctly she has rending and +3" run now all the Dance abilty's are used during the shooting phase so plan accordingly
Dance of dreaming Deny the Tau there stupid assisting overwatch because they cant use it unless they can overwatch with the unit being charged
dance of death strength 1 may not seem much but AP2 with ignores cover meens they will not get a save unless its invunable save.
Dance of caging Lowering a models weapon skill if there made for combat is always fun
Hit and run here is the trick first use the corrisponding dance as explained above and then charge into combat then keep her in combat till your foe turn and when he does his assult in his turn at the end you brake off because of the hit and run rule then when your controling shooting phase happens repeat the process :D

Dont forget she re-rolls all saves using cursed earth meens she will get a higher invunirbal save and if the warp storm table is on your side that save can be moved to a crazy rerollable +3 and if your being truly evil the book that can give you a +2 but thats overkill if you ask me :P

Dont even get me started with the apoc formation of having her come out of deepstrike and being able to charge wile rending on a 4+ if thats your kind of thing :D

You forget spell syphon changed now everytime a power is manifest you gain 1 warp charge on a roll of 6 when facing Grey knights can give you a insane amount of warp charge's if you can roll loads of 6's.

Now having the abilty to turn your own blue scribes into a lord of change say hello to a new flying MC with 2 mastary levels attached thats a 149 point increase also with him having 2 wounds he can use one of his wounds to make a herald of tzeentch with 30 points and have that herald have mastary lv 2 also :)
