Hi gang, I'm dabbling in some Salamander love and have a question about a command squad. Obviously it doesn't take a FO spot.....so say I'm taking Val and attach a command squad to him, does this mean I can attach them all to say, a Tac Squad? Coinfused on the ruling. If anyone can clear it up, I would greatfully appreciate it!
Thanks!

The command squad does not take a FO spot but is a separate unit. (It doesn't have the IC rule so it can't be merged into another unit). Usually I buy a Pod, Rhino or upgrade to Bikes for the command squad. It really is a handy unit to play with.

Got it. I was trying to figure out to get an Apothocary in another unit I guess. I'm looking at doing an all Drop pod army for the lizzies

Only the Command Squads, Honour Guard, and Red Scorpions can have Apothecaries. Command Squads aren't like Wolf Guard or Necron Royals Courts.

Yeah FnP is sweet for Marines! I've had amazing success with it on biker command squads with the T5. Lizzies are a great Drop pod army! I've been really tempted to do them myself but I've got drop pod Space Wolves and assembling/painting another round of pods makes me want to cry! I'm actually hoping the Wolves get an Apothecary option at all!

Yeah, I have been playing Tau for the Longest time....played alot of armies....it gets stale after awhile even if you don't get a chance to play alot. I figure marines.....I love the models.....I was even thinking just doing an unknown chapter....then I read the Lizzies.....the options......Warhammer Lizard skulls for helmets!!!!!!

And I got my Green picked out too........pretty excited on where I can go with these guys. I'm just going to start with about 1000 points and go from there.

Yes sir. Same army gets stale after a bit and it's nice to shake things up.

Have fun with the Lizzies! I have over a dozen pods done up and I absolutely hate assembling/painting that particular model.... Goes to show how much I love playing them that I've suffered through so many! :D

You can only do that with Blood Angels as far as Space Marines go. Their Sanguinary Priests are basically Apothecaries that take up 1 Elite slot and have IC, therefore able to attach to another unit.

I was thinking of that but with the new Codex looming soon.....

Have you thought about Red Scorpions? Their Chapter tactics are available to download form Forge World's downloads page. They can replace the Sergeants in their squads for apothecaries I believe.

Tempting.....I may have to check into it. I like the Salamanders fluff. A chapter that still believes in family and have them and will do what they must to protect them. I'll check them out.

Red Scorpions are fanatical zealots of their Geneseed purity, hence the squad apothecaries.

So combine the two in to your own chapter. They have the character of the Salamanders, but because they want to keep their family together, every Sergeant is a trained Medic!

If you are able to run Forgeworld, then just use the Salamanders special character Apothecary:
