I'm thinking about setting up a story driven kill team campaign but I wanted to spice things up a bit. My idea is to have it set on a necron tomb world and at the end of each phase before moving on to the next part of the the story that the winning player of that phase could take on a "boss fight" to earn extra bonuses or flags for the next phase. One idea that came up was a fight against a scarab hive with a couple canoptek spyders in the mix to make things that bit more difficult. Others involved fighting a canoptek tomb stalker (using the profile from the previous edition of imperial armour: apocalypse). For the overall winner I thought about a c'tan from the last codex as the big bad.
These are not final ideas and need fleshing out a bit to make them work but does anybody else have ideas about boss fights or special missions I could incorporate to keep things fresh and interesting?

4th edition has some good kill team items for the boss, some things to purchase as well while your campaign is on going. Good stuff in there.

I would again suggest drawing on the original kill team.

As opposed to having 2 teams going at each other, it was more akin to a team of specialists infiltrating a base guarded by Mooks led by a boss,

For another Boss would be the Overlord of the Tomb World and his Royal Court. A fully kitted out set of Lords and Crypteks, all waiting to tear their teams apart for their outrageous behavior. Maybe even put the Overlord in his Chariot.
