4 Deftkoptas w/ Rokkits (120)

I decided to go with the Ork horde detachment vs combined arms because of the hammer of wrath + mob rule, but with the large amount of troops in the base list this might change. With the new codex I'm struggling to include any amount of armored support in games under 1500. I'm definitely worried about any armored support that the opponents might camp at a objective.

I feel that I cannot even afford to take any specialist orks until the point limit is raised to 1250.
I use to run a squad of tankbustas instead of one squad deftkoptas but they've been target #1 for blast templates. I feel that it is better just to spam orks than have any specialists on field at this point level. The same logic goes for Lootas without an aegis defense fortification.

I have the deftkoptas to outflank the enemies metal boxes that usually end up kiting my horde. I have found that for every turn past 5 my chances of winning diminish. I've considered Big Mek Gunz but unless a helldrake shows up I hope my outstanding #'s can take the fire.

Essentially I can shoe horn any of the options in the codex except buggies. Is it worth switching out deftkoptas for lootas and tankbustas?

My Upcoming opponent is Necrons, and I need a win! 7th edition has been cruel to me, hence the switch from a evil suns trukk list to a horde list. From one warlord to another!

If you guys are playing maelstrom missions, I would advise sticking with the CAD vs ork horde seeing as you only have the one hq, unless you really want to reroll your warlord trait. And the odds of rolling a 1 on mob rolls is diminished with a boss pole anyways. Just my two cents.

Thank you for the input Stoeks88! Much appreciated. I ended up losing due to not having objective secured. My deftkoptas were blown out of the sky before they had the opportunity to blow up his doomsday ark. I had the numbers to withstand blast templates. However I definitely feel I can run more toys than I thought. I'm most likely going to cut a squad of shoota boys for Lootas!

Do you play orks? I've been browsing the forums for smaller point lists, but most of lists just include a Stompa plus boys?

One trick I like to with my deffkoptas is, if I have the fast slots available, to make the unit of three into three different units. This will make sure your opponent has to target three different units instead of dropping blasts on one unit of three and possibly instant killing two or even all three with good rolls for your opponent and bad ones for you. I do play orks, and have performed well in competitive tourneys, even with our old out of date codex.

A couple of quick questions for you; do you have a dakkajet or burna bommer and if so, you should consider bringing one if it is not frowned upon in your meta of course. Dakkajet is great against infantry and light armored vehicles. Also, if you have the ability to purchase or scratch build some lobbas, I would get a full unit of 5 and just drop the steel rain. Barrage weapons are great and the lobba is dirt cheap for its damage output.

As far as relics, I would look at giving your warboss the lucky stikk instead of the shiniest shoota. I have had great success with getting an extra would on an enemy and saving a wound here or there too.
