Old Terminator Armour Question

Hi, I've got hold of several old school terminators who are apparently wearing 'Terminator MK III Prototype' armour. I am planning to start modelling a pre-heresy Word Bearers army and I was wondering if anyone can tell me whether these guys are wearing pre- or post- heresy armour, because I haven't been able to find an answer on the interweb.

Technically neither and both.
The minis were sculpted and released the same time as the more current design - I believe the three prototypes were just that, but they put them into production as alternate models for characters and such - I've seen copies of Jes Goodwins' sketch of the big shoulder one with the little banner pole, also some of the original Space Hulk pictures feature the one with the MkVII style helmet.
This time period (89) is around the formation of the story of the Heresy and the Primarchs and such. The pre-heresy armour didn't get designed until later (90-91), so the very early heresy-era stuff has everyone in beakie armour as that was the only marine armour around in the game at that time.

At the time they were produced the minis were 'contemporary' 41st millenium suits, but with the retconning of alot of RT era stuff to be pre-heresy you could take them to be pre-heresy suits.

Actually all of the current terminator suits were used during the heracy. the current terminator armor was developed just prior to the horus heracy. just as a side not that remeber for pre heracy power armored marines mainly use mk2-mk5 the mk1 thunder suits were almost never worn by that time. good luck on the pre heracy army, im currently making a pre heracy luna wolves force.its fun and challenging.
