Hello BOLS

So the lowdown, since I seem to be the only one in my FLGS to play IG and have a Baneblade or two I get to pit my metal ageist An’ggrath that the Korn player just got.
So fun time to be had by me. :D I normally play Tanks for days but I don't see that working here. So I am diving in to the deep end for a bit of help with this monster of Chaos. This is what I was thinking of to go up ageist him.

Pask in Leman Russ Punisher with Heavy Bolter, Heavy Bolter sponsons, dozer blade, camo netting Backup Russ kited out the same as Pask

Company Command Squad ,Vox ,Auto cannon ,Chimera
Company Commander Carapace armor Melta Bombs

Ministorum Priest
Primaris Psyker mastery Lvl 2 (Divination I think is my best bet for powers)
Primaris Psyker mastery Lvl 2

Platoon Command Squad, Auto cannon, Chimera

Infantry Squad Auto cannon
Infantry Squad Auto cannon, Vox
Infantry Squad Auto cannon
Heavy Weapons Team ML Flak Missile X3

Veteran Squad Auto Cannon

Hydra
Hydra

Aegis Defense line Quad gun

BaneBlade

So my plan is to try and shoot An’ggrath down before it can get into assault or I am just boned. Combat squad up the platoons squads with the Priest and Psykers behind the Aegis. The Chaos player will run Korn because that's his god of choice so bloodleters and some CSM trying to eat my face with assault. Any feedback or tips are welcome. I do have some Space Marines and a small Grey knights detachment I am still putting together just a Librarian and five normal gray knight troopers so far. Oh my other Super Heavies are a Shadow sword and a Imperial Knight.

Thanks Dr.V

Overall the list looks good. I really like Pask, and the Priests should be nice. Is it worth taking someone to repair the Baneblade? I think you'll have a decent chance against him for sure... let us know how it goes!

Or, you could ally-in some Red Hunter Chapter Space Marines for a beefy Chapter Master (with all the good gear) and make it a truly fluffy battle from the books! Plus, he could help if he does reach your lines...

If the Chaos player is only running Khorne Daemons, I think that's a pretty decent list, except you should get rid of the Hydras and not worry about anti-air at all in this case. Here's why:

If the Chaos player is smart, he won't Swoop Angraath because he doesn't need nor want to Swoop. He can survive an assload of shooting on the way in, and needs to stay Gliding so he can assault (cuz Khorne likes doing that!).

If the Chaos player lacks some experience, he may Swoop Angraath, and with his 2+ armor and Feel No Pain, he's very unlikely to suffer an unsaved wound from autocannons, and let's say he does, then 1/3 chance of grounding him at the end of the shooting phase....do you want your Guardsmen assaulting him then ? HEEEELLLLL YEEEAH, I mean no, never. Plus he can't charge the turn he switches to Gliding, giving you an extra chance of unloading tons of plasma and lascannon shots.

So take a bunch more plasma and lascannons in every unit you can. The way I might run the Leman Russes in this case would be non-ordnance blasty turrets with lascannons/multimeltas. Then take 3 Enginseers in a Chimera, maybe with Straken and Master of Ordnance (for Relentless firing on the move if needed). The Enginseers can make each Russ' turret target the weaker Daemonic Troops/Hounds/other stuff, while the high strength low AP guns can target Angraath. That actually might work better without Pask, as Tank Orders with the word immediately seem to not be able to use Enginseers along with that rule (though that's a rules lawyer worth debate).

With King of the Bloodthirsters in there, he won't have much else. Of course if he goes psychic bologna on you besides Angraath, like Belakor making him invisible :) then you're screwed, we're all screwed! Especially since I sold my Angraath before I knew 7th edition was coming out with changes to D and grounding tests. Definitely the best Daemon Lord now.

First off thank you both for the advice.

xTHExCLINCHERx: I get what you are saying but finding the points to do the Chapter master would be hard. I am all for fluffy lists it how I like to make most of my lists.I could make some thing work, but I would need more time.

Lord Krungharr: I get what you are saying. I do not see Chaos flying with Anggraath but I was going for the mass shooting attempt. With Anggraath having a 3++ my thinking was
Oh 2+ armor that's nice roll 20 saves sort of deal. I don't see Belakor showing up He is more pure to the fluff and dose not run psychic bologan with Korn (sounds tasty with some Cheese:D) but you never know till you get there.

Thanks ya'll
