Apologies if this has been asked before but I couldn't find it.

What happens if a psyker dies while casting possession?

example:

Sorcerer on 1 wound casts possession and then dies from perils.

Perils says that the spell is cast even if the character dies from it.

Possession states states that if this power is successfully manifested remove the psyker as a casualty immediately. But if he isn't there to be removed as a casualty can the rest of the possession power still take effect?

As posession is a conjuring spell you still deepstrike the greater daemon as in the rules for conjuring.
The removal of the psyker is no conditional effect for the conjuration to work but a side effect of the conjuration.

+1

It is deeply satisfying to have some opponent cut through my 35 man Chaos Cultist Blob to get to the meat of it, my Chaos Sorcerer, to finally do a single wound only to have me cast Possession and turn into a Greater Daemon on the following turn...
