I want to start working on Daemon Prince (Tzeentch) but I'm tad confused on arming them. I've played against Daemon Princes armed with swords, axes, whips and what not but when I examine the CODEX I can't figure out how they are allowed to be armed with such. The weapons fall under Daemonic Gifts but there is no entry for Daemonic Gifts under the Daemon Prince entry on page 93. What am I missing?

I think all models can be armed with a basic close combat weapon if they have nothing else. If you take lesser rewards for example you can trade them in for the primaris (you know what I mean) option of aether blade or Tzeentch staff. The staff is excellent on a MC so I would arm the model with one even though in some games you may not end up taking one if the initial roll on the reward table is preferable.

As DP's are monsterous creatures, what they have in their hands is meaningless and there to look cool. If it is supposed to have a certain object for whatever reason, then it should be represented. When I think of monsterous creatures, they are so big mean and nasty that they can literally tear things apart with their bare hands.

Thanks. BTW, I am referring to the Chaos Daemon Codex entries. I notice that Daemon Princes are slightly different in the CSM Codex.

Well, the DPs in the CSM codex can take Chaos Artifacts which include the Axe of Blind Fury, The Black mace or the Murder Sword. But these are not in the CD Codex.

Yes we are referring to the default god specific weapons that codex chaos daemon princes can take as either greater or lesser rewards. Check out the default tzeentch weapon on the lesser reward table that gives you +2 strength for 10 points. It is referred to as a staff but with no codex with me I forget the full name. Still, making a prince or lord of change strength 8 without the need to roll iron arm is a great deal especially as smash attacks are now a lot fewer in 7th edition.

So what is the best way to build the model? magnetize the right arm and switch out the weapon arm with a non-weapon arm when needed? Also, would it be good to magnetize the wings in case I want to use it with CSMs and/or have be a PD that can be summoned?

Put the staff on, you can magnetize if you wish but the staff can represent the default close combat weapon too.
I would always add wings as for 40 points it is a decent upgrade even if your princes never fly but stay as jump infantry bounding from cover to cover.
You can't summon daemon princes, only greater daemons.
