So if you were a Space Marine, what would you be? scout sniper? someone with melta bombs or perhabs a thunder hawk pilot?
I'll start with myself: I really like going fast so I would be a land speeder drive, and because I live in Skandinavia I would say space wolves would be my chapter :D

I don't think the Imperial guard are very picky about what gender their meatshields are, as long as they can give the enemy something to shoot that that isn't expendable.

That being said I would probably prefer being a devastator from the Space Sharks chapter because they are bad ***. I don't expect to be killed last, I'm just lazy and I don't like to move.

Do my stint as a bolter armed tac marine storming out of drop pods and rhinos and then find my vocation in the veteran company in a veteran assault squad jumping out of thunderhawks Mon - Friday and stomping around space hulks in Terminator armour on weekends.

Actually, they do. (See Mechanium, Titanicus, the Cain Novels, etc.)

Just because no women appear able or willing to take a job with no pay that basically consists of being chucked out of a spaceship in an over-sized sardine can and fighting horrible things until you die doesn't mean that there aren't powerful and influential women in the Imperium.*

Yes, they do. There are such things as female Techpriests. One notable one is in the latter half of the Ciaphas Cain series.

Thousand Son Marine because I can shred power armor and laugh at melta/plasma weapons (at least 50% of the time). I only truly live during battle (like most marines loyalist or otherwise) and when I do die I just have to wait for a sorcerer to bring me back. Possessed power armor is the way to be in 40k. :D

I have always liked the idea of being a Librarain. There is something about psychic powers that interest me, perhaps it's being able to fight with your mind as well as body. That and a nice big force staff.

I created my Chapters Cheif Librarian with this in mind, sort of my physical presence on the battlefield, Lord Agemon. Just to be on the safe side I've made sure he has a nice suit of Terminator armour, think Librarians have enough to worry about with perils of the warp as it is.

I'd probably go a psyker of some sort, so likely a librarian. Although an Undivided sorcerer would be cool. I know Tzeentch is the master of them, but also that he tends to give out some rather unpleasant mutations and have you stabbed in the back.

As a Marine, I'm all for being a Tech-Marine. Nothing like lounging around all day, waking up dreadnoughts and reinforcing buildings now and then. I would be recruited from an imperial shrine world by a pious chapter, perhaps Black Templars, who would be skeptical but swayed by my zeal and enthusiasm.

I would be tossed out alone into a bleak jungle with canopies of fat black leaves so dense they blot out the sun, and be forced to escape to the extraction point through the muck, and mire, and worms, and felids, and fist sized, curious looking primates.

Having succeeded in these trials I would be forced into a final test - to climb to a mountaintop, so high and cold that the icy walls feel like polished steel, with those who precede me to the pinnicle encouraged to hurl rocks and snow at the late-comers.

Having come so close to this office of honor - neophyte of the Black Templars - I would see the summit, and the victors atop, and my comrades climbing past me, hungry for glory and service, and I would know that I did not have what it took to succeed here. I'd be a Heavy Bolter-totting tactical marine. As my sergeant and half of the squad jump in a razorback to go burninate things, i take aim and start mowing down greenskins like i was trimming a hedge. My squadmates would die first, The Emperor graciously allocating the first 4 wounds to them.

then, as the orks inevitably approach, i'd laugh, because they were all about to be killed by a heavy bolter marine that remembered to put on an appropriately oversized bayonet. Brother Rambo FTW.

But in truth I never died. The spirit in the machine was far to crazed to be placated. So I took its place, now I am the 'Tribulation' our fortress amongst the stars, and I could not be more pleased. By my flesh I inspired a generation, by my shell I saved a world, and by my spirit I watch over all my brothers and all they strive to achive.

If you ahve to stay space marine in the srictest (speaking: loyal space marine and not chaos) I'd be an epistulary with terminator armor, storm shield, gate of infinity and the vortex of doom.

when you are claden in the thickest of armor and carry a shield that can reflect titan-killing blasts there is not much more awesome you can get other than the total mastery of space. move yourself around by the blink of an eye and crush your enemies simply by morphing space around them!


if you have to be a space marine on a broader scale I'd be a chaos sorcerer of slanesh.
simply because slanesh gives you all the pleasure, you can make people (girls *hrhr*) do what you want (lash ^^), can mess around with the cute deamonettes and if you are good at serving your lord one day can become an immortal deamon prince dedicated to the god of pleasure...

Chaos Space Marines are still Space Marines. They just aren't part of the Adeptus Astartes, which is an an overarching "organization" which is (mostly) loyal to the Imperium. Organization, of course, is used extremely loosely here, but IIRC the Astartes DO have some representation within the High Lords of Terra.

If history tells me anything, it's that I would be a Dreadnought in the Imperial Fists chapter. I tend to pick up more than my fair share of painful, stupid injuries that maim me, but don't kill me. I also like to sit in the same spot for a long time, so I believe that I'd fit well with a chapter that specializes in squatting behind fortifications.

Does the Imperium have worker's comp? This could be crucial in my decision to serve the Chapter.

For all the fighting they do, being a space marine is actually pretty boring. They spend most of their time flying through the warp praying, training, and meditating, and that stuff's just not for me. If I had a choice, I'd be a member of the BA's Death Company, that way there's need to worry about that tedious stuff in between fights, being locked in the stasis chamber takes care of that for me. Plus, I getta take all sorts of cool toys into the fight, like a jump pack, power weapon, and meltabombs! I'd be the scariest mofo on the battlefield.

I have thought this very thing since I first started playing back in 2nd edition. As it stands right now, being an officer in the Air Force, I'd probably be a Space Marine Captain. My favored chapter is Dark Angels, but I don't think I could be one of them in "real life." I'd have to be a Crimson Fist or Blood Raven. From the novels I've read they seem to be some of the marines more in tune with their humanity. They seemed to care for the lives of the humans they were protecting or saving.

I'd either be toting Artificer Armor, Iron Halo, Power Sword and a Plasma Pistol or Terminator Armor with Storm Bolter and Power Sword.

Then again, being a Chaplain or a Librarian would kick butt too...
