A reader passed this gem onto us he unearthed from YouTube.

The fascinating thing is to watch and compare Andy's answers to problems then at the end of 2nd Edition, to many of the same issues the company is still dealing with almost 20 years later.

He talks about playtesting, FAQs, allies, and the like.

That reminds me how much I miss Andy...

Also quite funny who most of the design ideas where just skipped for profit.

Just a point.
This video is dated 1996, so was filmed the best part of two years before 3rd Edition, which came out in 1998.

1996 is not the start of 3rd edition. 3rd was released in 1998.

GW would benefit hugely by having him back to look over 40k as a whole. I'm pretty sure there is a massive yes men culture at GW hence why people that shouldn't of left did. I know it's a business and a public traded company and it's all about the bottom line, but surely having someone guiding the IP's that knows what the end user actually wants would make them more money.

On a side note I met Andy Chambers when I was working in Nottingham and he was a really really nice dude.

*Sigh* I really do miss the old guard most of the time. I still remember Priestly's interview with the Realm of Chaos blog where he noted that the studio was essentially dead from a creative standpoint due to the involvement of the sales side. Well I guess nothing lasts forever.

Yeah, Andy is a great guy but GW is a different beast now and actually seems to be getting back on track to making a fun and cool game again after all these years, Andy's game design these days is great but not what GW is making, he's very much about streamlined and very simple games
