So Statuesque Miniatures released these:http://www.statuesqueminiatures.co.uk/p/8774376/sma012-heroic-scale-female-heads.html
So I used them to make these:

Female sci-fi minis that don't look like themed hookers!
Thank goodness, may have to add a few of these to the army :)

but they don't have visible boobs, thongs, or high heels, how can we tell they are female?!

those are some nice heads though.

Damn, I wish I'd known about these before I settled on a Sister of Battle head for my Inquisitor. These are awesome! After the campaign I'm in is over, I may have to see if I can dig/drill out the head I used and replace it...

Those are really cool and show it is possible to make none-creepy pervo female sci-fi figures. Well done.

Cool turbo-lazers or whatever they are too and a nice ethnic mix.

Good paint job. A few tussocks of dead grass could really make the bases pop.

I think you are in possession of a sizable stockpile of win.

No, silly, that's Men's Rights' Activists you're thinking of.

Just out of interest have you subtly narrowed their shoulders?

Nope. Those are straight-from-the-box Cadian bodies/arms/legs. The only conversions are to the weapons and the head swap (obviously). I don't see the point in unnecessary modifications. By and large, women in modern combat armour look functionally indistinguisable from the blokes in every area except the face. Why waste time with shaving plastic edges on a model down when I don't need to?

A few tussocks of dead grass could really make the bases pop.

Agreed, only they're city fight bases. Though I do like the idea of some wasteland scrub, I've not yet found any I like.

If it is City Fight, I guess some London Pride would be the thing to get. That was claimed to be the first plant to colonise bombsites.

See you in three days-ish, maybe sooner.

They're clearly all going to die horribly, everybody knows female armour works by not covering and allowing the female form the freedom to exploit its natural dexterity...

Nice heads though, and interesting lasguns.

York, I could have sworn I posted here before, but nice work, they look great man. question, bifrost? are you planning on drawing on nordic roots for your army? maybe a bit of fur lining and the like on the characters?

@dub - that arm is a piece from the IG command kit so yeah... good work bro

However, Bifrost IG..where is this planet of Asgardian Beauties??

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Bifrost

They're a very minor IG regiment - literally all the detail that exists is their name and that they fought in the 13th Black Crusade.

question, bifrost? are you planning on drawing on nordic roots for your army? maybe a bit of fur lining and the like on the characters?

They're part of my ongoing 40K/Dark Heresy campaign blog. If you want more detail, they were covered right near the start: http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/entry.php?8520-Warhammer-40-000-Campaign-The-Kepler-Covenant-Part-6-The-Bifrost-Imperial-Guard

Long story short: they fought in the 13th Black Crusade on a planet called Albitern. This made them excellent city fighters, but also deeply traumatised. After the war was 'won' they just went AWOL, refusing to fight again due to the influence of a secret cult called the Order of the White Feather, which had infected them with heretical notions (which went by the names 'pacifism' and 'democracy'). They ended up on a planet called Kepler 22b, one of the earliest colonised planets and long-forgotten, where they allied with the local Tau and Necrons, who - it turns out after a few skirmishes - also subscribe to these notions - almost like the various species were supposed to meet; as though someone or something arranged for them all to meet there at the same time and forge an alliance...

So yeah, the idea isn't so much Nordic as 'What would happen if there was a faction that truly believed in inter-species co-operation?'

And yes, of course, there is a huge evil conspiracy that's brought all these guys together - and for bloody once, it's not Chaos either! :)

As for fur-lining on the characters, well, the Commander looks like this:

http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb183/MaltonNecromancer/Summer%20Holiday%202013/2013-08-28133120_zps7957c173.jpg

So probably not, no. :)

With the Bifrosti, it's more about the ideas in modern Norway, Sweden and Scandinavia - the fact that the they're the world's only real bastions of left-wing political thinking and implementation. I don't see why something can't be Nordic without looking to their past and going full-on Viking. It's like: is the modern world not interesting enough? Anyway, I live in Yorkshire - I've got enough Viking stuff in my life already!

Will you be using the helmeted / hatted heads on other squads?

Not until Statuesque produces helmetted heads in heroic scale - their current helmetted heads are true-scale, and thus look wonky on 40K models.

My Milliput/GS skills, while fairly okay, are not up to sculpting helmets, and frankly the fewer things that look like absolute turd in my army, the better.

If anyone's interested, I've done a female Deathwatch Captain using a Statuesque Miniatures head, so you can get an idea of how they scale relative to Marines. I think they fit very nicely, making female Marine models a possibility, though I will say the neck needed a lot more work than it did for the Guardswomen.

Yorky

Excellent work the heads fit really well and look good. 1 minor critic: The lass with las pistol and chainsword. She has waterbottle and ammo pouch on her thighs. Most soldiers will try and stow pouches either high on chest (if chest webbing) - or round the back. Because when you go prone fast stuff on the thighs not only raises your profile, but hurts like hell when you take cover.

I like the scheme and how they have come out though.

YorkNecromancer
05-27-2014, 01:26 PM
Oh, I know. I got the models second hand off the eBay, and the original seller had glued pouches every which way. Some could be removed, but the sergeant? He had what could only be termed a "heroic" amount of glue used in his assembly. So, sadly, the pouches had to stay. :(

:D

Thank you for the compliment.

And look, there are comics where Batman has been turned into a vampire by Dracula, turned his dad into Frankenstein, and fought Cthulhu ('The Doom That Came To Gotham' needs to be an animated film so bad) so if it really hurts your brain that much, just call her an Elseworlds model. :) But she is very definitely a Space Marine. I know, because that's what her stats say she is in the Deathwatch game.

That is Captain Nimueh Krotoski of the Red Hunters, currently seconded to the Deathwatch. She is NOT a Sister of Battle - and she's not a BA because she's judged by her deeds, not her looks. :)

Love the models, mainly because they don't look like "models"! I have an old dwarf were Andy Chambers goes over some rules for other regiments of the Imperial Guard and I don't remember if Bifrosti was in it. Wish GW had some decent femme heads, you pretty much have to use elves and then your guardswomen end up looking like they could use a meal.
