Last time we looked at distended and bloated bellies, but thats not the only technique that is appropriate for nurgle, rotten limbs are also a great way of adding a unique identity to your models.

For this tutorial I am using a terminator and focusing on the thigh of the model

1) Shave down the limb area you are going to be using so that you have some space to work with

9083

2) Take a really thik roll of greenstuff. In this technique we buck the trend of less is more, you still dont want to over do it, but dont be too shy about how much greenstuff you use, this is for a terminator leg and is a 8 mm by 3 mm roll.

9084

3) Press gently down on one side of the roll, the whole way along.

9085

4) Wrap this roll around the bottom section of the limb, you want the round section to be overhanging the segments of leg that have not been shaved down so that it looks like a roll of fat.

9086

5) using your tools texture the roll of greenstuff, I have use three different parts of the tool to do the various textures.
i) the sharp point of a toothpick
ii) the Rounded end of a toothpick
iii) the cross sectional area of a broken toothpick

9087

6) Take another roll of greenstuff, but dont flatten one edge, just wrap it around the limb over the flattened section of the first roll. In this instance I have then widened the second toll by moving a toothpick over it like a rolling pin.

NB: This roll and all the rolls from now on do not need to make complete rings, we will now be adding flesh to the limb in a piecemeal fashion as we choose.

9088

7) Another way to add flesh to the limb is to take a small ball of greenstuff.

9089

8) flatten one edge slightly

9090

9) then place the blob onto an area of your choice on the limb, rolling it out with a toothpick again as desired.

10) Repeat adding strips of flesh to the model as needed, in this instance I added a third roll of green stuff right at the thigh.

9096

11) Continue to texture and blend the flesh as you go, dont be afraid of the shape of the flesh changing too much just press gently. You can add additional techniques at this stage (such as boils or gapping wounds) The sores here were achieved by gently working the tip of a toothpick into the greenstuf and then flicking the edges out.

9097

12) This image shows a large segment of distended flesh from the upper thigh overhanging an open sore from the lower thigh, dont be afraid to do this as it adds depth and life to your model after all the lack of symetry is what make this technique powerful.

9098

At this stage your limb is done, However I will continue here with an overlapping technique that can be used to make it appear as if the armour around the edges of the flesh has split under pressure.

13) Take a long thing roll of greenstuff.

9099

14) Place it along the edge of the armour area you desire to change, then flatten one side down by smoothing it into the armour, leaving the overlap over the flesh section.

9100

15) Take you edge tool and make cuts in the armour segment by pressing the tip into the flesh edge of the roll and gently drawing it back away from the flesh, clean the splits up by pressing or rolling your tool over the greenstuff armour as you did in step 14

9101

As always here are the images of this technique used on other models (I havent being doing this long so there is only 3 examples.

NB: this image shows how you can continue the bloated flesh around joints (in this case the knee) by giving the impression of a knee cap in the swollen limb.
