Everyone, I just wanted to share something,

I am just amazed at the writing quality of the Lounge regulars. We have some real opinion leaders with us.

When you compare the writing style/quality you see in opinion posts here to regular fare from other big forums, its like night and day.

We may not be the largest, but we have some of the most insightful and thought provoking thinkers in the community here with us - and you are appreciated.

From the Loremasters, to the Tourney Ringers, to the Hobby-masters, and everyone in between, Thank You all for making us the community we are.

-Larry

Ah. One of the biggest downsides to my new job (if you can call 8 months new) is that i have no internet access. I miss my procrastination during the day on here...

Not interacting with the forum much myself at the moment due to the big move to Canada, but I am still dropping by to read the posts of interest and hope to be back on form with hobby related posts when I'm back on track.

Keep my seat warm :)

Especially Iceland lasagna...

I dunno, my local Iceland put all the lasagna and burgers that might have been tainted in a freezer at 50% off when that news story broke. Freezer emptied in a day. I bought a load of the burgers, nothing wrong with them. The papers made a big fuss of it, but most people didn't care. Meat is meat.

I would say I agree with you, but I try and avoid Halala and Kosher meat out of principle.

For me the issue wasn't that horse content, more that it was being sold as beef.

Mr Mystery

Trouble with that is we don't know where the Horse Meat came from. If it was 'domestic' Horses? Lord knows what pills and medicines they'd been tanked up on.

Overall? I'm happy to eat Halal and Kosher. Animal is stunned, throat is cut. Death is swift and about as painless as it can be.

Though the way Das Daily Goebbels is banging on about it, you'd think eating Halal turns you into a Mosque. Like Eric turning into Bananaman.

To be properly Halal or Kosher then it cannot be stunned.
My meat is also not a sacrifce to god and therefore does not require a blessing to be said over it.

Mr Mystery

Depends entirely on the reading, lack of stunning is far from compulsory.

Beast still dies a pretty humane death.

Sorry mystery, but its far more barbaric than a quick bolt to the head.

Wolfshade

Kashrust is quite quite clear, a beast cannot be stunned. There is no ifs ands or buts about it. But then to be Kosher it has to be done by a trained individual.

It still doesn't change the issues I have with such heresey.

Got an issue with any method of slaughter, and it's time to go veggie.

The mystical words have nothing to do with the killing of a creature and yet it is forced upon us.

That's heresy.
The least we could do to the things we eat is give them the quickest possible death.
