So I played around with this idea for a while, mainly to go with my space wolves, an entire table, a boneyard of dead giant animals, all frozen and half buried in the snow.... pulling it off was the harder bit..... until someone linked me to a few vids on expanding spray foam!

First, For Reference.... this is some of the basic pieces (with some other terrain i had around, icy spikes, warpgate etc) before i really got down to the fun bits!

Next step, once id been put onto the expanding foam idea, was to get it started!

You will notice It does not look like much... yet!
Time to do some carving!

Next step for this lot, will be sealing it all up, painting the bones, and then snow flock/painting the rest to really give it that snow effect!

So far this is where I am at, the aim is to get it all done by next week, as I'm taking it to a tourny to help fill boards up! So stay tuned!

Oh... and lets not forget the next lot, curing overnight:

Interesting idea! I've used expanding foam for projects too in the past.
I'm looking forward to seeing how they look flocked and painted.
Watch out though, I've personally had problems getting expanded foam painted well. Too many bubbles and small imperfections.

Some Close ups!(note the top left of the first, is a full hill/snow drift made entirely out of expanding foam)

Basic but effective, The flock is a 2-1-1 baking soda, craft glue, white paint. mix i did the bones on most 3ish coats, starting bleached, adding yellow, then going to pure white. some worked better than others.
Also note, i rushed this entire lot in 3-4 days? wanted it ready for a tourney coming up, so that explains why it does look abit shoddy in places, but generally i think it turned out well.
