Not sure why you've put 'free'.... If I spend money, I get what I was paying for, and something I didn't pay for.

Hmm. Now, what to buy to get that freebie?

Because when I first commented on the sprue image I jokingly suggested it might be a promotion, free with the first 1000 orders.

But as it turns out I was closer to the mark than I could have imagined, it is a promotion, free, if you spend X amount of money.

So not no chains attached free, but with caveats 'free'.

But don't let me distract you from you from your shopping list.

A few things :
- Where are the erratas & FAQ ? Do we have now to send our books back to GW to have the latest updated version, as they are telling people to do in the product pages when the said product does not meet customer's expectations ?
- Why the new prices raise on Codex Space Marine (both paper and digital/iPad) and on all the supplements (which are now costing as much as most of the codices) ? What is the difference between my last year SM book I bought 38€ and the now 46€ ? Is it better ?

I admit that the new site is looking modern, shiny and all, but…some things are still wrong…

Yet if we're spending on their site anyways, it is indeed free.

And at £60 threshold, hardly beyond the usual spending habits of most gamers. That's a Codex/Army book, and a kit.

One thing that struck me with the new site is the complete lack of direction if you're going to the website for the first time as a prospective new player. No "New to Warhammer? Click here!", no idea of what any of the drop down filters mean. Bringing new players into the hobby should be front and centre of the website, at the moment it's complete confusion. God help a poor parent.

Apart from that, if you do have a clue what you'e looking for, the webstore & the filters are excellent. The blog needs to be better identified but that's a minor thing.

So ...

This website is pretty terrible.

First - I love how it doesn't ask me to tell it what country I'm in anymo...*Country window fades in* NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!

Second - the two most popular country choices (why they have these and aren't derived baffles me) are like, at the bottom. Great usability there.

Third - the site is completely worthless for anything other than being a giant shopping cart. I never buy anything from GW's website anyways (well very rarely) so they aren't really giving me any reason to go there other than to buy stuff, which, isn't much of a marketing tool. Several times I've read a hobby article and said "Thats cool I want to try that" then went and bought the supplies on the the webstore immediately (I'm bad with impulse purchases) so without that additional information on the site, they're depending on people who have already made up their minds about buying something to go to their site. It doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

From what I have seen of it it does not appear to have much web design done with it so far, just a new shopping cart that is a mobile friendly format, based on that I wonder why it took them a full day unless they were trying to retain product page history from the previous website. The lack of errata is also confusing unless they plan to add them as page links to the respective codex they apply to or intend to simply move that sort of information to the a white dwarf daily blog if they bring it back

So on the one hand I like that that you can filter things by various categories.

On the other hand, why is it that I can check "digital books" to filter out all actual books, but can't find a way to filter to only "printed books" and filter out all the digital ones???

Because they hate us? That's my usual assumption...

To the left is smartstay. Basically it keeps the screen on while I'm looking at it. To the right is the NFC logo that indicates that my NFC capabilities are enabled.

thanks for solving that riddle :D

A few more thoughts about it now the first day is gone : OK, from the perspective of a store website, the design is nice, on the shopping features side it's really improved, but overall it's flawed by some bad choices, I think mostly of the filters : there's a lot in the different pages, but you have to understand on your own how they work, and it's not really as clear as it can be in many others webstore across the Web. I introduced it to a friend who hasn't saw it yet, and browsing in it is not as easy as the design suggest. So tweaks expected here.

Webstore perspective put aside, this new site is a complete failure : there is absolutly nothing else. I mean, just compare to the Spartan Games' one for example : there is a LOT more to see other than directly "Hey, look ! Nice product, nice product pages ! Buy now !". Games Workshop is just the ONLY major game company that has completly failed the Internet step : a website that has become over the last decade just a shopping gallery, and a social network policy that no one can understand. By the way, anybody knows why they shutted down Forge World, Black Library and Digital Editions Facebook pages recently ?

Because they wanted to.

Forge World said it was getting hard to communicate with people owing to the volume of posts. They only had one person on customer relations last time I checked so it's probably accurate.

Second - the two most popular country choices (why they have these and aren't derived baffles me) are like, at the bottom. Great usability there.

I find the alphabetical order quite logical...

Oh no I have to move my mouse just a little bit more to click the country I'm from. Seriously? Of all the things to moan about you choose an alphabetically correct list of countries?
