So I just want to check I'm getting my sums right.

I am working on a 5 'man' squad of AM Myrmidion Destructors equipped with Volkite Culverins.
That's these guys:

This gives them 48" of range, plus 6" if they move - they are relentless, so they can always shoot.

This gives them 20 shots at BS5 - with preferred enemy (everything)- meaning they will hit 97% of the time, so 19 hits should strike.
Volkite Culverins are S6 AP5 - also preferred enemy (everything) - meaning they will wound T4 models 97% of the time, so of those 19 hit inflicted, 18 should wound.
They then have deflagrate, meaning those 18 wounds explode, inflicting a further 18 hits which wound with the same stats as above, for a further 17 wounds, for a grand total of 35 wounds.
Against MEQs, 11 or so should go through armour.

So, am I right that a single round of shooting, barring a super-unlucky roll (which is very unlikely considering the sheer number of dice being rolled) 5 Myrmidion Destructors with Volkite Culverins will reliably delete a standard sized Tactical squad from the battlefield?

If so, do we think that this Heavy Support squad is worth it for the 300pts they cost? They are T5 W2 3+/5++.

Do you mean a standard 10-man tac squad - only I thought in HH they are in 20s? Certainly is a lot of big power, but I reckon the question is - worth it in HH or wirth it in 40K - I would send a lot of shots to run this down in 40K. Would be a priority target for all sorts of suicide squads as well.

I am thinking therefore (excuse the ramble) 300 is a little high (er than what I would want for 300pts).

Yup. Tac squads start at 10 in HH and go up to 20; same with assault squads. Everything else starts at 5 and goes to 10.

I agree that they become a fire magnet, but the question is: for what? Nothing carried by standard troops is going to be in range. The only things that will, are things which you can stay out of range of. The 52" threat bubble these things generate is colossal. Then, given their extreme resilience (2 wounds each)...

You've also got to consider than in HH, Marines don't have ATSKNF; they have a few rules than come close to compensating, but morale is an actual issue Legion marines need to consider.

EDIT: having just rechecked the books, Mymidions don't have 2+/5++, they only have 3+ saves, so less resilient than I thought. Still, that 54" threat bubble remains absolutely devastating. If they can see it and it's with 52" and on foot, it's gone. I honestly don't think suicide squads could get close enough in time - you'd need at least two jump infantry units to guarantee one getting there without being vaporised.
